Have any of you SRNA's or CRNA's had the opportunity in school to practice procedures, like spinals, epidurals, or central lines on cadaver patients? How bout mannaquin patients? I've heard of practicing intubations on mannaquins, but I wondered also about other procedures as well?

I've seen a cadaver maybe once during my schooling so far, and of course didn't have nearly enough time to pick out all the landmarks I wanted to. I think it would be a good way to teach central line insertion at the very least.

There are mannequins manufactured for just about anything you can think of. Our program has them for airway, central line insertion, axillary block, IV insertion, spinal/epidural and baby airway. We use these rather than cadaver due to accessability, storability, and portability! Good luck!!!

We used the real, live patients. That's why preceptorship is so important. A good CRNA preceptor can make or break your skills and habits.
