Hours that you work ?

as a CRNA, what hours do you work and how many days a week do you work?

this is just pure curiosity and a glimmer of what I MIGHT one day have the honor of doing.

thank you in advance.

Re: Hours that you work ?

150 bed hospital 4 ORs

35-50 hours a week. Mostly 7-4 weekdays. 1- 2 days a week on call. day post call usually (90%) off. One weekend a month.

On in-house call right now for OB until 7 tomorrow, have one case in the OR tomorrow, will go home after it is done around 9 or 10, am off through Monday.

My hours are much, much better than as an RN in ICU or cath lab.

hope this helps

Re: Hours that you work ?

I have not yet graduated, but my schedule as of January will be three thirteen-hour shifts per week. 0700-2030. Call six times per year. Call is 3pm-7am, and the weeks I have call, I work the sixteen hour call shift, and two twelve hour shifts 0700-1930.

Re: Hours that you work ?

I work two 12 hr shifts (7a-7:30p) and two 8 hrs (7-3:30).
My call requires a 48 hr in-house weekend every 7 weeks. (7a on Sat to 7a on Mon).
I am only responsible for cases in the OR and intubations/codes on the floor. The Docs cover OB so MOST weekend nights I will get some sleep.
I work for a great group and they pay me well, so I can't complain!

Re: Hours that you work ?

i'm just wondering are CRNA's exempt employees? i must say the hours you guys work are wonderful especially for the salaries you earn. there is no question that you all don't deserve it, my hat goes off to all of you.

funny you mention this. there is a huge political struggle at my place of empolyment over this very topic, yes we are exempt which protects our employer from paying us overtime. our work agreement also states that 45 hours is whats expected of us each week.
some argue that we are the perfect mix between hourly and salary (Sourly) as they call us now.
I submit however that there are many jobs with really the same set up.
hourly with an minimum garunte per week.
hour employer of course would have us work however whenever for a little as possible. their phyciains of course.
