Hello everyone I am new to this site and I love it. I need some advice. I have over 14 years RN experiene, and 10 years ICU experience (Trauma/CTICU), I am applying to several CRNA program , for next year. My grades are good (3.5 overall average, science 3.7 overall average). I am afraid to take the gre, I need to take it my next month, October. Do I take a review class? try to study by myself? Over the summer I tried to study, I schedule myself for the test and cancelled it, ( I am afraid that I may get a low score and it would not represent what I am capable of doing in the program) Pleaseee...... help, I need some advice soon.

Take the darn test, and quit procrastinating. you can't study for the damn thing anyway. you can review the types of questions that are going to be asked, but that is enough. the rest of it is just like an IQ test, or similar to the SAT, so just go take it and get i overwith. it's generally not worth getting upset about cuz a lot of programs don't way it heavily anyway. I would concentrate on interview questions and the like rather than the gre.

Briefly review the math, because you probably haven't touched trigonometry and algebra (at least not consciously) for many years. Otherwise, just go for it.

Follow the advice already given. It's stupid test, but one that is a requirement for admission. As long as you interview well, and are otherwise a well rounded applicant, it won't be weighed as heavily. Schedule it NOW, and set aside time each day to study. I think I studied (taking practice exams, reviewing math)about an hour each day a month before the test and scored ok.

If you go to the website for GRE, I believe they have a reveiw packet with practice questions, I would do those and concentrate on the math. I had 2 weeks to study and did well with the packet from the website and some vocab tapes I picked up at the bookstore. I listened to them to and from work. Good luck.

I am also new at the site and am also currently worried about taking the GRE. What I did is went to the book store and pick up the Kaplans GRE review book. I am fairly strong in math but the vocab is what worries me. The Kaplans book seems to have a great review in both the areas. It has the 200 most used GRE words to know and also a great review of math. Also I have been to the GRE website and it has a ~80 page packet of review you can print off and some pre-tests. I plan on taking the GRE Early November-ish.
After the GRE I am going to study up and take the CCRN. I have heard that having your CCRN is a one up on getting into school, any certs that you have will help you.

If you have that much test anxiety for this menial exam how are you gonna pass a CRNA program?

The CRNA exam is knowldege learned from teaching and demonstration. The gre exam is not. I have plenty of friends that are in CRNA school and if you have a understanding of the teaching you WILL pass the exam. the GRE is old concept that I took in high school 18 years ago.

I suggest buying the Kaplan GRE review book, do a bunch of practice questions/tests and do some review of the math. Put in a little time every day for a few weeks and then take the test. You will do fine. Good luck.

Just take. I kept putting it off and putting it off, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected. The math is basic geo, algebra, and arithmetic you should just review for a week or two the formulas, after that work one practice test each day for about a week you will be surprised how much better you do each day working the math and verbal problems.
