Due to a few recent close encounters upon extubation, and standing behind the "blood brain barrier", I have become acutely aware of my lack of eye protection. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a make/manufacturer/website that they have found helpful?

You can pay a lot of money for the Oakley type. My solution is to go to the nearest sporting good store. Go to the shooting section and look for clear shooting glasses. Get a pair of Croakeys to keep them on. Try on several pairs to see what is comfortable. Should cost $15-20.

Walmart has a pair of shooting glasses for about $5-$10 in the sporting good dept. Home Depot or Lowes also sells the same pair of eye protectors for cutting with saws. They're in the area that has the work gloves and sfety equipment $5-$10. Just another option if there isn't a sporting goods store near you.

I've seen some MD's a nurses also wear the mask/shield combo but they put the mask part around their forehead so if they do get a splatter it drips off their face and not onto the mask (they grab another single mask and wear that). MD said it's also better wearing it that way if you start sweating the mask will absorb it.
