I'm never exposed to anesthetic gases while
sedating patients.
And when I
anesthetize patients, the exposure is minimal because of waste anesthetic gas scavenging systems and high airflow rates through the OR's. This is much different than it was 25 years ago when scavenging systems weren't installed in many OR's and inhalation inductions in pediatric patients using only semi-closed systems were used - lots of waste gas was just going out into the OR.
