Smile anyone from abilene tx??

Just found out that my clinical site for august will be abilene tx. If anyone is from that area or has lived there feel free to bestow advice (re: daycare, school system, good area's of town). I personally have never been there and do not know anyone in the area or anything about the clinical facility other than its a good one.
I have an 11 year old daughter whom I am thinking about bringing with me. My husband will probably stay in ks until I accept an employment position (where ever it may be!).
thanks

Abilene

My husband and I were stationed in Abilene, TX for a little over 7 years. There is a major Air Force Base located there.(Dyess AFB). I am originally from the Houston area, so west Texas took some getting used to. The summers are very hot and the winters are fairly mild. Areas on the south side of town are the "nice" areas. Schools are fairly even on that side of town. There is Fairway Oaks which is where Doctors and such live. River Oaks area is also very nice. I have a girlfriend who is a teacher there, I could ask her about elementary and middle schools. Which hospital will you work for??? Hendrick or Abilene Regional. I went to nursing school while stationed there and went to work for Hendrick Medical Center. Let me know if any of this helps.

I live in Abilene also. Feel free to email me at julia@juliatexas.com. The south side of town (where I live) is probably your safest bet. The school there are good there also. Which hospital will you be working at? On the south side of town is closer to Abilene Regional. Hendrick is on the north side.
