Can one of the opps please consider posting a poll on line to take up the issue of banning AA discussion in the main CRNA forum or create a new forum dedicated to the never-ending argument that leeches away at the constructive discussion here?



I would imagine I am not the only member that is burned out on hearing the same arguments back and forth month after month.

The arguments have turned redundant and silly. Time to move on....

I am interested in the CRNA vs. AA debate because it will FUNDAMENTALLY effect the future of CRNA practice. I think that it is really an economic question more than a medical concern. You can spend years learning a skill, but if there is no market for that skill you might as well have gotten a History or Philosophy degree.

The big questions are: Can the AANA define thier profession? Do they have the political will to define and defend it? Unfortunately, the CRNAs seem to have a difficult time determining what the difference is between MDAs, CRNAs, and AAs. I am sure that I will get flamed for that statement. But they need a CLEAR and LUCID definition of what it means to be a MDA, CRNA, and AA, then they need to determine will they defend thier market place. Furthermore, the CRNAs need to be able to describe this to LAYMEN, because these are the people who will write the laws.

I care about the debate but I have to agree with user69. If you look at the history of this board I have always found new and exciting posts until this CRNA vs. AA vs. ASA vs. mothma vs. godzilla vs. might freaking mouse started up. in the last week CRNA posts go unanswered while 250+ want to phone in on whether AA's suck. If you care, start up a AA haters post. I care and when I get into CRNA school I WILL be an active member of the AANA and lobby for our rights but empty debate is a waste of the knowlege base that has been built here. This is a GREAT place to learn about CRNA's and if we learn, get in and GRADUATE we will be a powerfull adversary for the ASA AA lobby. Let's stop the problem by bettering ourselves and staying true to what we do!! Churn out the best damn CRNA info board on earth! Read the post by kmchugh vbmenu_register("postmenu_103817", true); Becoming a CRNA - From One Who Did It, and you'll remember why we are here, to promote the best damn profession there is!!! Let the residents and their AA beehatches do the *****ing, after all that's what the "medical model" is all about!

Nah, I don't agree with you that the discussion is useless. Not all discussions have to have definite conclusions or be clearly cut in order for them to be significant. And aren't redundant rantings sometimes what makes some posts so good? Its good to hear what people have to rant about and the fact that people are getting angry and paying attention to this issue so much shows how interested people are in it and how much we shouldn't think badly of it.

But, yeah, maybe it should be moved to another board if its disruptive to the normal, healthy CRNA board.

Just out of curiousity, if you're burned out on the discussions, why do you keep posting on those threads?

I have no problem with people arguing over the issue, but just thought that the normal flow of information that I have enjoyed for the past year was being choked off by this one argument. It looks like people only have so much time/energy to participate in the board and the AA debate is hurting discussion of other issues. But it may have just been timing with most of the students getting new rotations and being distracted.

So you start another thread on the billing issues? Uh ... ok. Seems a bit contradictory to say you're tired of the debate, and then keep it going. Of course, you're free to do what you like, but it doesn't make much sense.

I was looking at the billing issue as a totally separate topic. I wanted to understand the financials on why I will paid a fraction of someone else that does virtually the same job as me (when I graduate).
