I have reviewed their website and it appears that they are coming up for CCNE accreditation in April 2004. Their generic BSN program appears new. As an educator, I am wondering if there are any SMSU grads/students on this board who could tell me their perception of the quality of education received? Recently, I went to the Ozarks for Spring break and am considering moving to the area. I have been there many times when I lived in KC and to me, it is truly God's country. The natural environment, weather and Christian spirit of the area appeals to me. Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Barbara

I am finishing my BSN at SMSU through their completion program. The education there is excellent. Their generic program is new, competitive, and requires a lot out of students. But I believe it will prepare them for boards. The professors are awesome. They are so eager to teach students and help in any way they can. While they expect a lot out of you, they have a very calm attitude about things.

Thank You!

Erin,

Thank you for your reply. I am sending my CV to them this weekend, so hopefully I will hear some good news back soon. I reactivated my MO RN license and I can't wait to move back to Missouri. We hope our house will sell fast and we can be out of here soon.

Thank you very much,

Barbara

Re: Southwest Missouri State University

I didn't graduate from MSU, but I work with new grads from the program and the one complaint I hear is the lack of hospital clinical time. The grads who come to work on my med surg floor have a more difficult time adjusting because they don't have the experience that the local hospital based programs provide. I've heard though that MSU faculty recognize this and are changing things, it's a work in progress I guess...
