Unhappy Chamberlain college of nursing

Is there anyone out there that's in or has been in the ASN online program at Chamberlain. If so, would you recommend this program? Did you have any trouble getting in touch with your advisor? How did the scheduling for clinicals work? I'm SUPPOSE to start this program next month, but I can't get a call back from my advisor. I'm getting very frustrated!!!!!!!!!

Re: Chamberlain college of nursing

I would suggest to withdraw from this program right away. I had so many problems with them. I withdrew June 2007. I am now 7000.00 in the hole, luckily for me, the classes are transferrable. There is a possibility that they are going to lose their accredation. My advisor was J.H. and she was extremely unprofessional. They gave me the run around for 8 months. I tried to be dilligent, because nursing is something I really want to do.

I, too, withdrew from the program before I was supposed to start. There are many, many post about Chamberlain. I wouldn't recommend them as well. As Loreal stated, they are about to lose accreditation. Check out the pass rates. Just google, MO State Board of Nursing and click on pass rates.

I think you should really think about it before committing to this program. As a current student I am just praying that they keep their accrediation until I graduate. This is the second time that accredidation has come into question since I began. You spend TONS of money to teach yourself nursing IMHO. I am on my 5th advisor and am only notified that I have a new advisor when I call and get someone new that answers the phone. They are never able to tell me what happened to my old one just that they are no longer in that position....some I have missed and others were no great loss. The revolving door of advisors is the least of the problems. Good luck to you no matter what you decide.

I thought they stopped the online programs . I know they did to out of state students. To the OP you really need to check on this school before you commit. I have read some real horror stories in the Distance Learning forums. Just from what I know ..Withdraw and RUN....

Thank you for responding. I do have a few more questions if you don't mind. Do you have trouble with clinical scheduling? If you need help or have questions with anything, can you go to the school and get help from instructors?

Give me your email address and I can forward an email to you that the dean sent me a while back. But, seriously, back away from Chamberlain.

They still have the online program...for now anyway. I know that some out of area students have had issues getting clinicals scheduled.

Re: Chamberlain college of nursing

I attend the online program and live close to the OH campus. The devry classes are great, but once the nursing classes started through chamberlain it has gone down hill. The instruction is horrendous. If you can get a spot at any other school, do it. Even if it is a long wait. I am a good "self learner", but when the instructor is not clear on instruction, it makes it hard to follow. So disappointing.

Re: Chamberlain college of nursing

wildk1, are you in the state of MO? Or from another state?

Please take to heart what you are hearing from the posters on this thread. What you are hearing is not sour grapes.

There are many terrific programs here in the St. Louis area; I hear the same for other areas of the state also. It will be worth the wait in the long run to get in to a good, stable, accredited program. I can personally attest to that.
