Anyone work for Maxim home health/ agency?
|
|
Hello all. Just took a job with Maxim to do both home health and agency; hopefully more home health. Can anyone tell me anything about this place?

I have done HH (PDN) work for Maxim in the Chicago area. It was okay...nothing outstanding, but nothing horrible either. My sister worked out of a Colorado office. I think she had the same thing to say. The biggest problem we noticed was a lack of nursing supervisors and field staff. I think that will vary from office to office, so you'd probably have more luck connecting with someone who has worked out your same office....just MHO.
Be careful with the agency side, they are sneeky...they have a tendency to dangle a lot of money, get you to take an assignment, THEN tell you where it is. NOT that I have anything against correctional nursing, but the Cook County Jail is somewhere I want to go for ANY reason.
Congrats on your new job!

maxhealth.com?
I was cruising craigslist.com in the healthcare classifieds and came across a posting from this company. They seem like a good company and sounds promising in the ad they posted. That you'd get plenty of hours (hours you want) and great pay as well... I apologize I couldn't give you in useful advice... but my opinion's just as good right??
Either way I'm sure it'll be fine!
good luck with everything

Well the great pay part is kind of a joke. When I first went in they told me it would be $30/hr and I'm an LPN. I was quite excited about that, not to mention my husband was looking forward to working less hours because of it. After orientating with them and doing the CPR refresher, they changed their tune and told me it would only be $18/hr on wkdays and $19/hr on wkends. They said the $30/hr is only when you do an admission, and only RN's can do admissions for them. Whatever. I've been doing admissions since the dawn of man . So it still seems ok, just not what I was promised at first.

I just started working for them a short time ago. So far I enjoy the flexibility with my scheduale. Just pay attention to what they tell you your pay is and what in shows on the pay stub.

And that is true for any job. Also, make sure Social Security is receiving your money in your name from them, also that they are delivering to the state and Fed and local all the tax monies they withhold from your check.

I signed up with them over a year ago, with the understanding that I could only accept cases which were within commuting distance of my home. "Yeah, yeah, NO problem", I was told. I had no sooner gotten this out of my mouth, when I was asked to take a Peds case which was located far away and near the State line. I declined and haven't heard from them since. What a waste of time.

Worked for Maxim for years and have been treated at both ends of the spectrum as far as employee treatment goes. I can only say that it depends on which people you are dealing with at which office at any given point in time as to how you will be treated. You should ask what they are doing for other employees in your category and insist that you are treated the same way. I always found out about discrepancies from others, although I never initiated talk about pay or benefits. It got old for me when I realized that I was being told one thing, and they were doing something else when it was somebody else. I don't care what the matter is, when you are dealing with a good employee, and take advantage of them, using lack of integrity, then you are poisoning your own reputation. Just because a person does not speak badly about a former employer in a job interview, does not mean they don't talk negatively or truthfully to their family, friends, and even strangers (like on this board). Maxim is an ok employer, but you have to watch out for your own interests and make certain you don't get taken advantage of. Good luck.
Added thought: Case in point: They are really hurting for employees, yet CseMgr1 has not heard from them in over a year. Do you think that anyone in that office was worried whether or not CseMgr1 needed an income in that year? She didn't do anything wrong!

Nope. And they don't care.
Companies like Maxim are only interested in making money and don't give a rat's hiney if people like me starve or not. When I declined to accept that case, they put my file in the back like another can of beans and moved on. So have I.
