Hi Everyone! I attend Wayne County Community College District. I was wondering if anyone new anything about WCCCD's nursing program. Do they have a waiting list? If so, how long is the waiting list. Any info given will be helpful. Thanks!

Hey there. I also attend WCCCD and have applied to their nursing program for Spring 06. They do not have a wait list and acceptance is based on your GPA and the NET scores are used as a tie breaker. They accept 120 student twice a year and it is very competitive to get in. Just keep your GPA up there and you should be fine. The lowest GPA last semester to get in was from what I have heard a 3.4. Stay above a 3.5 and you should be fine. How far along are you in your prereqs?

I'm at WCCC too! Any recommendations on instructors for pre-reqs? I'm currently in micro and will take a/p 250 and nutrition next semester.

Thank you so much for the information. I am currently in my first semester of pre-req's. But I plan on going all year around to finish faster. Do you have any recommendations on any instructors for pre-req's.

Send me a private message and we can discuss professors. I dont think it is appropriate to mention specific names on a message forum.

Hi, just wondering, do you have to have all the pre-reqs ready when you apply? I have A&P I already, but haven't taken Microbiology yet.

You need to have the following completed before you apply.

ENG 110
PSY 101
BIO 240 A&P I
BIO 250 A&P II
BIO 295 Microbiology

I was accepted for the Spring 06 semester. I start nursing classes in 2 weeks YIKES!!!!!. The orientation meeting was chaos, with people cheating to get spots in classes during the lottery. It was so sad and pathetic. The DON was truly appaulled by all the dishonesty. I hope when you apply and get accepted it isnt like it was when I went. Good luck to you!

BTW, what campus are you most attending? I can give you a heads up on a good microbiology and Anatomy professor!

Thanks for offering help. Right now I am still taking pre-req at a local community college in NJ. I'm looking for WCCD because one day I might move to Detroit. I finished A&P I, Chemistry I. Next semester I will take A&P II, English Composition I. I CLEPed Sociology and Psychology. Stilll long way to go.

BTW, I looked at WCCD catalog, it seems the summer nursing courses are offered as well. So you can graduate in 1.5 years, Am I right?

Happy new year and thanks again

Some nursing classes are offered in the summer but they are only for those who might have failed a previous class or was unable to take a certain class the semester before. They dont allow you to take the nursing classes in the summer if you dont fall into "special circumstances" catagory.

BTW, Your welcome.
