Anybody here applying for the traditional or 2nd degree program? If so, feel free to say "aye".

Also, is all of the clinical time done at Hurley? And does anyone know how many students are applying for fall 2008?

Letters go out in early March. Good luck to everyone!

Re: U of M Flint

Hi there!

I applied to the U of M Flint 2nd degree program. I believe all the clinicals are through Hurley. I don't know how many applications they recieved, when I asked I was told "alot". Knowing there are only 27 spots per year for the 2nd degree program, I am nervous! I was told the same thing about letters being sent out early March, and that you receive a letter either way.

Which program did you apply to? Waiting is always the hardest part! Please be sure to post when you get your letter!

Same here. Right now I'm taking A&P II and Developmental Psych at Mott C.C. Have you taken Pharm or Pathophysiology yet? If I get in I'll have to get those done this spring/summer. Are you working in the nursing field? Do you like it?

It's nice to find someone else to "wait" with!

Re: U of M Flint

Yeah. I posted this a while ago so I am glad you responded. I took Pathophysiology. If I am accepted, i'll take Pharm in the summer at Flint, or where ever I can.

I am a nurse extern and I really like my job. I work in the resource pool, so i've been fortunate enough to work in just about every area of the hospital. It is a tough but equally rewarding job.

What was your first degree in, and what do you do now?

My name is Brian, by the way.

Re: U of M Flint

Hi Brian,

I went to EMU for my first degree in Sports Medicine. I am a certified athletic trainer, but working as a personal trainer. I worked in Physical therapy for a couple years, then Fenton Fitness for 8 years, and just recently went on my own when I started my prereq's. So what hospital are you at? I'd love to learn more about becoming a nurse extern, especially if I don't get in this time around. Are you applying anywhere else?

Rachele

Re: U of M Flint

I graduated from there 12/06. Not all clinicals are at Hurley, some are at Genesys and McLaren. CAT

Re: U of M Flint

Thanks for the info. Were your clinicals during day shift? Are you working in the area?

Take care,
Rachele

Hi! Some students from my psych rotation at Eastern were at 6 floor at Mott's on the Child and Adolescent Psych unit. Good luck! The children there can be a challenge at times but it's a great learning experience. Do you commute from Flint all the way to U of M? I couldn't imagine... there are MSU students at U of M too and I feel so bad for them for having to commute all that way!

Good luck!

Re: U of M Flint

hey there all. I graduated from UM Flint in 2005. My psych and last semester clinicals were at McLaren. My leadership was at Genesys, and all the rest of my clinicals were at Hurley. The leadership and last semester clinicals are based upon numbers drawn out of a hat as far as order of who gets to pick which clinical site they go to (that may have changed, but who knows.) Good luck with the program!
