P.M. Clinicals at H.F.C.C.

Hi. I have to have pm clinicals because my husband does not have the option to change his shift at his job. Can anyone give me any details about pm clinical? What time do they usually start the first semester? What about after that? Is it true they are usually at the farthest site? Any info would be great!! I hate not knowing what to expect!!! I'm already scared enough....Starting this Aug 08....Wish me luck!!!

I wish you luck. I'll be there too. What section are you in? I'm in 2.

I LOVED PM clinicals. Mine were at Botsford. It's not as hectic as daytime so u get a little more hands on from your instructor. The down side is that since it isn't so busy you kind of miss out on doing some things, too. They usually start around 3:30/4:00 & go until 9:30/10:30.

Me too!!! I'm in section 2 also. But how do you know you already are in p.m. clinicals. Did you already get confirmed for p.m.? Do you think that everyone who usually wants p.m. gets it? I hope!!!

Is it true that the p.m. clinical instructors usually let you go home early, if all your work is done? Or is that just a rumor? Thanks!!

Ah, the many rumors that fly about! I wouldn't count on it unless there is a case of bad weather. U can utilize time in clinicals for all the paperwork/ homework that needs to get done. And your CI is there watching over you!

Good Luck, you'll love NS!

There are a few of the part-time instructors that seem to let people out ungodly early. To me, that's not a good clinical experience. Those are the students that don't get to see as much because their instructors are lazy and want to get out, too. They're not doing you any favors.

You'll get as much out of nursing school as you put into it.

PM clinicals are easy to get because only a minority want them. They will be glad to give them to you. I always enjoyed the PM's; I was able to get my kids off to school without rushing, I wasn't running late for clinical, I looked half-decent, and I wasn't tired.

AmyBeth, you must be a brain child, because I never found extra time to do the paperwork at clinical (just OB.)

Don't be scared about nursing school. You're going to love HFCC. The next two years are going to be remarkable. Squeeze the life out of them!!

Re: P.M. Clinicals at H.F.C.C.

Thanks for the advice!!! I think P.M. will work great for me too, since my 3 and 5 yr old are in a.m. preschool and Kinder..So that way I can be there to drop them off and pick them up. I can also have things situated before my older three come home. I hope that I can enjoy my learning experience. I am a Surg. Tech. But I have been out of work and school for 8yrs. Just came back about a yr. ago. Refreshed some classes, and took Patho. Now I am excited to get back into the swing of things!! But I am trying to ease the stress off of my family, at the same time I feel it is all on my shoulders. Then again, It is only temp. Thanks again!!!

hey guys, i think pm clinicals is going to be great, right along with ns period. I think that we all need to get ready for the most REMARKABLE RIDE OF OUR LIVES. I think that it will be lots of work but, also fun and enjoying at the same time.
I also think that our pm clinicals will be just fine, i guess it all depends on our instructors(u know)
Good luck to all and ill see u all in orientation Aug 4
and i am in sec 02 also

What a fantastic attitude. You will be just fine with this mindset.

I would just caution, though, that a day Med-Surg experience is preferable, as that is when they do most of the interesting procedures, both bedside and downstairs. But if you can't, you can't. The two of you have really positive attitudes, and that alone will give you most of what you need to get through nursing school.

Enjoy these beautiful summer days, ladies, while you can.
