Anyone here in Madonna's program? I heard a rumor that they "may" be having accredidation problems and really would like to know if that's true before I take out a million dollar loan for nursing school.

Gee, I hope not. They are one of the few places that actually has a Nursing Master's program that focuses on palliative care!

Speaking of Madonna University, anybody know about the program? How admissions works, is there a wait list, very competitive. Pre req's needed to be completed BEFORE applying?
Anyone in the program, love it/hate it.

Well I'll tell you this, I've been trying for the last 3 weeks to have one of the nursing admit. people call me back! I've left 4 messages for her on her voice mail and nothing....I'm pretty ****** off at this point. Why should I have to BEG a university to take my $330 per credit hour? I'm going to Wayne State where they've GLADLY answered my calls.

Madonna was up for re-accredidation this year. I do not know what happened, and I know that the rumors were flying. I think that they may have switched accredidations, but they did not lose it. I am graduating this semester and I can tell you that its a very tough/competitive program. I can also tell you that EVERY interview I went on, the nurse manager or the nurse recruiter said "OH YOU ARE FROM MADONNA!!" I do not know how getting in works at this point, but I think that there is a waiting list. The counselors/admissions people are difficult to get ahold of bc its a small school and there are only 1 or 2 people that can really help. My advice is DON'T GIVE UP.... Madonna is a great school, with the frustrations of any university. If you choose not to choose Madonna, I would recommend Oakland U. Hope something I said was helpful. Good luck!

Hello There,

I am currently a Madonna student. I'm finishing up my prereq's this summer. However Madonna now has a waiting list. You know how it goes students are on waiting list at other schools and decide to go to a school without the waiting list. Madonna didn't have a waiting list at first now they do because so many people are transferring. Well I decided to transfer from Madonna this fall. I'm going to U of D Mercy. Yeah they are a bit more expensive but the student teacher ratio is smaller and they don't have as many unneccesary classes like Madonna. Another thing is that I notice that people aren't to friendly at Madonna. At first I thought it was me, but a few other pre-nursing students say the same. It's alot easier when people are more welcoming. You have study partners and school is easier. I haven't seen that here. There are alot of "cliques" I guess alot of the students went to high school together so they don't really associate with others. I'm an older student so I guess I try to socialize with others make contacts so that I have someone to talk to. I haven't had such luck here. Another thing is that classes that shouldn't be so hard (Art, music, etc) are made hardder by the instructors. These are classes that the university makes you take before going on to your nursing classes. Anyway, enough gripping. Try it you may like it. Good luck.

Don't feel bad.Everytime I go to speak with my counselor, which is a few times per semester, she always says " you aren'y one of my students", or "I don't know who told you that I'm your counselor, that can't be right." And then she has a silly look on her face when she locates me in her files. She never returns my phone calls, and is really sarcastic when I ask general questions . I'm transferring this fall. When you made the comment that the interviewers said "OH YOU ARE FROM MADONNA" did you mean that in a positive manner? For example the hospital staff was impressed that you made it through such a tough school? I didn't know how to take the comment. Thanks!

What type of Master degree programs does Madonna University offer? I just accepted this university as one of my schools that I have to visit as a representative from the Air Force.

Madonna is a great University with a wonderful nursing program! Every nurse manager i have ever spoke with says that Madonna grad's are excellent! I would highly recommend Madonna University!
