While looking at all the different schools to go to, it looks as though having all requirements for HFCC Nursing, are on the waiting list, and when it's your turn then you are automatically accepted. I take the NET on Thursday, once I have the results I will be able to go onto the list. They said a 1- 1/1/2 year wait. Does anyone know anything about the process. They really encourage that ALL classess are done before so when in the program it's just the Nursing classes. Has anyone still taken classes needed while doing the nursing classes? (I will need to update A&P, retake Developemental Psy- mine was only a 2 credit, and take pharmacology.) My work schedule is completly inflexible, therefore I won't be able to attend school until I am accepted into the program. Any information about the HFCC Nursing program would be great!

Re: Henry Ford Community College

I am not even on HFCC's wait list (i still need chem131 so im pre-nursing) but i've talked extensively to the program heads and this is what i've come up with... the wait list is looooong. In the time im pre nursing and on the waitlist i am completing ALL of the core curriculum requirements to go on to EMU for their BSN program (which btw if you're interested works out really well together) I would try to get as many requirements done on the waitlist as i can, its not impossible to take them during your nursing courses but you will be BUSY,BUSY,BUSY. Check out the schedules if you take only 1 (maybe 2 courses) a semester you can get them all done before you're in the program and they have really flexible classtimes and everything. I work full time as do most of my classmates and im taking 16 credit hours right now. Best Of Luck!!

Re: Henry Ford Community College

Just talked to Lorraine regarding wait list at HFCC yesterday as a matter of fact. Letters will be going out beginning in May for the fall semester. They are beginning with those placed on the waiting list in Dec 04. There are 220 slots to fill for the winter semester and somewhat less for the winter semester (I'm not sure what the actual number is-didn't ask). I was placed on the list June 05 and from what she tells me I have a chance of being admitted this fall. The procedure is they send out letters in groups of 50, have an orientation and find out how many are attending then go on to the next group of 50. So it really depends on how many students accept. I know students who have gotten in sooner than a year and heard of someone who claimed to take 3 years and still hasn't been accepted. I do find that hard to believe though I have a feeling she hasn't even been placed on the wait list just taking the requirements to get on the wait list. I will pm you on a great instructor for psych and some not so great A&P. Good luck on the NET.

I took the NET on 05/05 and got accepted for Fall 06. Please talk to Michelle or Lorraine in the counseling dept. If you have taken the 6 prereqs and pass the NET than you are on the waiting list. Take your co-requisites A&P 1 & 2, Dev Psych and Pharmacology while waiting. They strongly advise to have all other classes completed before starting the program due to students who don't have a higher incidence of being unsuccessful. I have heard from many that this program requires ALOT.

Re: Henry Ford Community College

I believe the passing score in nursing is 80% and yes it is a very demanding program especially the third semester - Med/Surg. The clinical instructors will weed you out even if you are passing lecture. But as long as you manage your time and keep on top of things, you will succeed.

Actually, I have some information in front of me that say the pass score at HFCC is 72%. I even called the nursing office and the lady said that a passing C would be 72-80%. I believe it is the same at Wayne County, or not that much different.

As far as the NET, the pass score would be 61% whereas HFCC is 65%. Again, a little higher, but not much.

Really? 72-80% is passing in HFCC nursing?! That makes me feel a lil less anxious. My A & P prof told me that you cannot fall below a 80% so maybe he's referring to cumulative overall grade. Thanks for the info.

Yes, hummmm, can you call the nursing department at 313-845-9635. Ask the same question to see the answer you get. I thought it would be more like 74%. Please let me know what you come up with.
