Re: Help with WCCCD GPA

Yes. Lets say you have a Composition class that was 3 credits that you received an A in. That'd be 12. You got a B in Microbiology, a 4 credit class, that'd be 12. You got an A- in Nutrition, 3 credits, which would be 11.1 (A- being a 3.7) Then you take the total sum of the credits being 10, add up the GPA values, which would be 35.1 and you divide 35.1 by 10, which would be a GPA of 3.51.

Re: Help with WCCCD GPA

WCCCD uses a straight grading system of 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 etc. They don't give out 3.7 or - grades. Keep that in mind when you are figuring your GPA for WCCCD.

Hi Sharazed,

WCCCCD grades are as follows:

A = 4.0
B = 3.0
C = 2.0 and so forth....

Now when you are given grades from your instructors, you are given an A, B, or C etc, based on how you did in the class....When WCCCCD calculates your GPA they go by the straight 4.0 scale, meaning that you get 4.0 points for an A, 3.0 points for a B, ect. Then they take those points and multiply it by the number of credit hours to get your quality points....then they take the total number of quality of points for all your grades and divide that by the total number of credit hours you have....

For example:

You have the following classes:

Bio 240 = A = 4.0 = 4 credit hours = 16 Quality points
Bio 250 = B = 3.0 = 4 credit hours = 12 Quality Points
Psy101 = A = 4.0 = 3 credit hours = 12 Quality Points
Eng119 = B = 3.0 = 3 credit hours = 9 Quality points
Bio 295 = A = 4.0 = 4 credit hours = 16 Quality Points

Totals 18 credit hours = 65 Quality Points

Now you divide 65/18 = 3.61 GPA

When Dare2care said that they don't give out 3.7 grades she meant that at some colleges they give out - grades like A- or B- which then gives you a 3.5 Quality point for an A- (now I am not certain that an A- would equal a 3.5 I am only guessing here because I have not attended a college that went by this grading.)

Hope this helps!

They will only use your co-req's if will Increase your GPA, if it doesn't then they will only use your Pre-req GPA.

Right now you have a 3.71 GPA in your pre-req's. If you get an A in Micro then you have a 3.77. If you get a B in Micro 3.55 GPA.

Hope this helps!

Re: Help with WCCCD GPA

I have a question - out of curiosity.

I attended the May 19th application meeting with a 3.77 GPA. Not that it makes any difference, but I was curious as to whether they lock that .77 in, or if it's rounded up to a 3.8

Like I said, just curious!
Thanks
Teresa
