Yes, I went down there also last week and the way that it works is as follows:
1. You have to take a course called "Success - HC3 Intro Course" which is a cust serv course, including your medical terminology, cpr, 1st aid, etc.
This course is 2 weeks long and is mandatory.
2. Another course called "Intensive Employability Skills Training" which is also 2 weeks long, includes computer skills training, resume writing, job interviewing techniques, etc, also mandatory. Both these course start up monthly.
3. You must take the certified nurse assistant course which is 4 weeks long, then you choose btw the patient care associate (5 weeks) or certified medical admin assistant course (16 weeks).
4. Then after all of this and if you do well, you enroll in the LPN program, which is roughly 10.5 to 11 weeks. You would go mon - thurs from 8 to 4:15 and clinicals are thurs and fri from 7 - 3 or 3pm to 10pm.
Currently there is a class in session already and they don't graduate until november. So Im not sure when the next lpn class starts.
Hope this helps.

I was told the same thing except after taking the CNA training you can start the LPN program. It was my understanding that the patient care training was not mandatory. Maybe it was my misunderstanding. But when I go to the office on Monday I will definitely get clarification on this. I thought it was a total of 9 weeks of training before you start your LPN program. Also I was told LPN classes starts in January, May, and September. Once I get the information I will let you know
Thanks

Oh, ok, I believe you have to take the cna and pca and/or med admin. I went down to the orientation that they have on the 1st thurs of every month but i missed it, had an old flyer. anyway, i spoke with some of the personnel that run the program, thats how i was able to get all that information. thanks for the update on the lpn part, i forgot to ask when that part of it actually starts. anyway, the next monthly orientation is may 1st if you can make it, then you will have all your questions answered.

Once thats completed stay on top of your career coach..My career coach told me he was going to put out a stalker complaint because I made my face known to him...he knew me by name and it paid off. As of now there is no waiting list. So anyone interested turn in your paper work as soon as possible. Fyi you can go to any one stop closest to you.

Hi Goldie Ferragamo,
Are you currently enrolled in the LPN program or are you in the process? I am in the process; I have to take the TABE test on Monday, then take a drug test and have a back ground check complete. The background check and TABE test is done at the Detroit HealthCare center. I am really nervous about taking the test... but I've been studying... Wish me luck on the test. I will keep this site updated.
