Does anyone know about BSN programs at EMU and Madonna?

I need your please...I have been looking at EMU and Madonna's BSN programs and was wondering if anyone has any information they would like to share about these two programs. Is there a wait list for those like there is for the community colleges?

I am applying to WCCCD's program because there is no waitlist and is based solely on GPA. However, I am also gettting put on the waitlist for Schoolcraft and HFCC as well just in case.

I have been thinking about just going straight for my BSN because I will have over 60 c.h. after this summer semester. I will only have org. chm. left in order to apply to EMU and Madonna. All of my General ed classes are done, including Math. I have no problem taking out loans to go for my BSN so financial isn't really an issue. What can you tell me about EMU and Madonna? TIA

Madonna is a private school and there is no waitlist so you will be looking at roughly $13k for the year. But on the brightside your done in 3yrs with your BSN. If you can get financial aid and you don't want to waste time on a waitlist go for it.

I applied to EMU and they have no wait list. I do have to say that their admissions staff are rude and pompous and left the idea of going there much to be desired. I did find out that you have to give them every post secondary you have gone to since high school and they tally all of it together no matter if you did good now or poorly then. I am a 4.0 student and went to a business school when I just got out of high school and I only got a 2.9 because I was being stupid. Well I was upset to find out that 18 years later they could or would hold it against me. If I can say anything at all to anyone please be careful you get good grades always even later in your life it can come bite you in the fanny. I was admitted there but I am not sure that I am going to go there since all of this I am thinking about going to Wayne State just because how the admitting person made me feel. I Hope that helps you out. Good luck in whatever choice that you make.

Kimberly,

I am really sorry that you had a bad experience with them. May I ask when did you get accepted to start? This Fall? I wouldn't be able to apply to EMU until their Fall 09 entry because I still have to finish up my Org. Chem this fall. I was planning on going there to talk them this summer. Right now I have a 3.9 GPA because of one class that I got a B in. I went to a business school when I was younger too, however, I received a 4.0 GPA there because I was rebelling against my poor efforts in high school LOL. I was determined to prove to myself that I could do it....I know I am weird. Anyway, I have heard of similar things about Madonna too. That the students there were clique and not very welcoming to new transfers. When I figure things out between these two schools, I would graduate one semester sooner with Madonna, but I would pay about 10k less at EMU. Of course this is all depending on if I get into WCCCD or not. If I do then I will go that route and then do a RN to BSN somewhere.

Thank you for your reply.

I wsa going to start in the fall of 08. That is just to get into the college that isn't even into the nursing program itself. I am pretty sure that I am going to go to Wayne because of the negative atmosphere that I felt there I don't think that it would be some place that I would enjoy. Good luck though. I hope that you get your first choice.

I don't blame you at all. If I experience any negativity like you did, I would probably want to go somewhere else as well. I am crossing my fingers that your experience was an isolated one and the lady was just having a bad day. I know wishful thinking, but you can't fault a girl for trying!

Good luck at WSU. I hear they have a wonderful program there.
