Exclamation Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

Hello, Guys wanted to know how is the Nursing Program at Henryford Hospital? How different is it from the school besides it being no breaks meaning it runs straight thru for 16 months. Versus the school having a break in the summer. I have an interview coming up for the program so, i'm just a little bit nervous and sacared.
Are some of teachers over there the same as the college?

IS IT THE SAME WORKLOAD?(which i would believe that it is, it's just that your going straight tru)

Are the supplemental classes helpful?

Overall, How is it ? and oh i forgot that i do know that all of your clinicals are at the hosital except for ob,peds and your psych rotation which is a plus.
I need all of the advice that i can get.
And i graetly appreciate it

Thanks in advance.

Re: Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

Hi. I don't know anything about the program but I'm in it too I received my acceptance letter last week so hopefully I'll see you there. I'm excited I just hope I'll be able to survive the 16 month no break deal. I get really anxious for a break every semester after about 2-3 mos so I'm praying for endurance.

Re: Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

Well I'm not in the hospital program...but I am a winter accepted student so I go 16 months straight through as well. I can tell you that it is a bit stressful and I can see that after only 1 semester I am wishing that I'd get a summer break as well...but I also want to graduate quickly soooo of course I'm going to stick with it :-p Just decide if you can handle going straight through or if you need the break.

Re: Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

I do know a couple people who are going to do the Henry Ford Hospital program. As far as I know, you have to be an employee of Henry Ford Health Systems and agree to work for them, I believe, 3 years after you get your license. If I find out any more I'll let you all know and you do the same.

For those who are in the program or getting into the program can you tell the rest of us how you got in or what the procedure was or is it top secret?

Re: Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

Guess I'll take this one...

Here's the deal theres no particular way to "get in" as I too would've wondered . I was under the assumption that this program is offered to Henry Ford Health System employees only and typically it is. HOWEVER every now and then when they are trying to fill spots, they are not always able to fill ALL seats with just their employees.

This is when being on the HFCC waiting list pays off and trust me I knew nothing about this before. I was accepted into the winter 08 HFCC pgm {received letter in November 07} and I accepted but then I postponed at the last minute because of the 16 month deal, I preferred to do 2 years with spring and summers off. So, I got another invite for the HFCC Fall 08 pgm {rec'd 2nd letter in March 08} I accepted only because I was waiting to see if I'd get into Wayne States pgm and I wanted a fall back just in case.

Well I had my mind made up to go to WSU if I got in until I received a THIRD letter from HFCC about this HFCC/HFHS partnership program-- that is when HFHS has not filled all available slots by HFHS employees--they will extend an invitation to HFCC students on the waiting list or already on the roster to get into the next available pgm offered by HFCC {in my case Fall 08}.

When I went in for my interview I spoke with one of the pgm directors {because they literally gave us little to no info about the pgm except that it starts like next week and It will be paid for in lieu of a 3 year contract} so I asked a few questions and they basically told me they accept during most terms, Winter, Spring and Fall.

They have 60 slots available and during this term they had filled 50 by HFHS employees. They sent invitations to 39 HFCC "wait listers" and when I had gone in they'd interviewed 13. They stated they based their criteria on the individuals ability to handle the program {children, employment, GPA, all pre-reqs taken and Net Test passed}. So I don't know if this helps you I can only say I personally did not inquire for this program nor did I do anything extra to "get in" maybe others did this is just my 22 cents [cause its kinda long}:twoc ents::twoc ents:

Re: Anyone In Henryford Hospital Nursing Program

Hey Guys Candydgyrl is right on with everything that she menyioned although i do not know how many letters that hfhs send out to hfcc students. I talked to someone in the nursing office today and i was told that if u recieved a letter from HFHS then u would definitely be starting the program right away unless u declined it . They send out just enough invites with a few xtras for the additional students that they need from the school.
so, with that i only know what i was told.
I myslef go for an interview friday.
But NO u don't have to be a hfhs employee but the catch is if enough of their own people don't fill the slots then yes they pull students from the school .
I'm very excited, nervous and can't wait. i'm kind of scared tooo because the time has come so quickly but, it'll be alright i'm very ready
So candygyrl can u give me some advice for the interview? What type of questions do they ask? How long did it take? Are u able to work how u want to in the 3 years meaning, contingent, per diem no weekend?
Help me out need advice can't wait\

thank u so much
