Hello Everbody,
I am a nursing student at Rivier College in Nashua. My sister just graduated from Holden Health in Nashua and got her LPN license. She has 10+ years experience as a home health aide, but none as an LPN. She is trying to get a job. Any leads or suggestions. She doesn't want to work in a nursing home.
Thanks, Jerry

This might be a bit off topic but I'm looking for specific information and I do live in Boston so I figured it might be appropriate. I am an EMT-B in Boston thinking about going to nursing school. I really enjoy the emergency aspect of my work and I am thinking I would enjoy working as an ER nurse. Both parents of a close friend of mine are RN's (one later become a PA) and their advice to me was "Go anywhere, get your RN and get some experience." Basically they told me "When you're working, nobody cares where you went to school, all they care about are the initials after your name and how hard you work." I have very little in the way of financial resources so I feel that my options are limited, but I also feel a bit lost as well. I was thinking of trying to get into the nursing program at UMass Boston and go for a bachelor's degree as well as the certification, but I don't want to be on a waiting list and I'd like to get certification sooner rather than later. I am supporting myself on meager EMT wages and have no idea what sort of program I would need to get myself on track to be an ER nurse. Just tossing this out there to see if any local folks could steer me in the direction of some help. All thoughts, recommendations, opinions, very much appreciated.

Re: Welcome nurses from Ma ssachusetts!

hello Ted, I've been reading different areas of interest in this web and I came across with this beautiful mountains of Massachusetts. I'm a new member and still very much confused where state should I go to work as a RN. My friend is already working as a RN in a hospital in Boston. We rarely communicate so I have minimal information regarding Massachusetts. I think I will consider this state as one from my best choices. Presently I lived in a mountainous area and I would still want to consider living in this kind of environment if ever I will be given the chance to work in US. My dream is to work in a nursing home because I have special attachments to our older generations. Maybe because I'm very close to my grandparents and do have compassion for them. Are there a lot of nursing homes I can choose from who accepts RN for employment. I will try to browse on MA BON on how to take the licensure exam there. I hope the requirements are not that complicated. Hope to get some response to my inquiries.

Zen, look into local community colleges like Bunker Hill for your preqs first... then you can go on to one of the many other colleges around for your BSN and cert. You might also want to look into some cc ADN programs ane work as a nurse while obtaining the BSN and cert. good lluck!!!

Hello everyone,
I am from Brockton, Ma but have lived in TN for 25 years. I am interested in finding a travel position in the Cape cod area near sandwich. I am an RN currently working in a hospice position. Do you guys know if this would be possible? Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Berta-
Love the plymouth beach, my family spent our memorial weekend at my husband's aunt in Plymouth, can't wait the July 4th.

I'm a Maine Girl! Spent 2 years in Peabody Mass, and Lynnfield Mass. I liked it there, but have only worked in Maine.

Just joined the forum as I am a wanna be RN. I am 26 and feel like I started late. Though everyday I dont go is a day earlier I could have been done. I am taking Pre Reqs at Middlesex Community College. I will then attempt to get into one of the 2 year RN programs. Newburyport is nice. That was my first visit to the ocean here in Mass. New York is nice too. It's almost the same when you live on Lake Ontario. Looks the same as the ocean. Nice to meet everyone and advice is always helpful.
Take care
