Hello all, long time reader of the boards, not much posting. I have a situation that is driving me crazy because I feel that if I miss this opportunity I will regret it for the rest of my life. I am a 23 year old male, still in college searching for that one area that interests me. Went from nutrition>nursing>business. I completed all my pre-reqs at UMass Lowell, pediatrics rotation, and 1/2 of maternity before dropping out with the highest overall average. I disliked my teachers and more importantly the program and overall support. I now wish I did not leave the program but feel that there are other opportunities at local community colleges. I contacted Lawrence-Memorial/Regis and the admissions rep told me that I would have to take A&P and all of the other pre-reqs over again. There is no way I would do that as with every pre-req needed I got an A in and it is within 2 years of taking these classes. I know I can handle the workload because it is something I want to do and know there are many opportunities afterwards. I know of Northern Essex and Middlesex as well, but does anyone know if I would have to take every class over again? It seems odd because what if I did take the classes at a lower tuition rate and transferred them over? It seems like the same thing to me. Well, sorry for the long post, hope someone can help me out.

I'm starting NS at Northern Essex next month.

NECC requires the science classes to be no more than ten years old! So, you are fine there.

If you apply NOW, you'll be applying for admission to the Fall 2008 program. If you want to know more, let me know. I can give you all the specifics! I've been doing my prereqs there for the past few years and it really is a wonderful school!

Have you thought about Salem State? It's probably the same distance as Regis time wise.

Also, I'd call back Regis......I applied there also and all my prereqs came from Northern Essex and are two and three years old. They would have taken ALL of my classes. All I would have to do is take the Nursing classes at LM/Regis. Ask for Hattie Derrick or email her. Her email is on the website.

Ah yes it was Hattie who I had spoke to a few times about Lawrence Memorial. But if NECC will accept my classes then I would much rather pursue my studies there as the Lawrence campus is only about 5 minutes from my home. I will have to get going on my application there and hope for the best. Thank-you very much for your posts, they were very helpful.

My understanding it is very competitve to get into a RN program. I teach in a LPN program and my students have told me, even with 3.9 averages they couldn't get into a RN program....some schools I have been told all newly admited students had 4.0 averages. So I would put in my application, ASAP.

I have a 3.75 and got in to an RN program for the fall. Where I go, they look upon grades highly, especially the science grades. They also put tons of weight on the TEAS test. You need to score very well on that.
