Well things are going ok thus far. I am taking nursing research and Spanish and I must say it is a bit tiring. I am in semester 3 of 5 and cant wait until its over.

Do you have your gen ed classes done? It is much easier if you only have to take the nursing classes.

I did take the pharm and nutrition and passed both. I did not find them that difficult. I just bought a nutrition book from Borders, read it for a week and took the test. For pharm I just used my NCLEX book and nursing school book and did fine.

I enjoy the program, but am tired of school at this point (only had a six month break between the end of my ADN program and the start of UMass) seems like Ive been going forever

Re: UMass RN-BSN online updates please

Hi there, I just got accepted for September as well. Do you mind if I jump in on this thread and ask about how many per hours you spend per week studying/homework? I've never taken on-line classes before, and I'm not sure what to expect. Is it mostly reading and writing papers? I'm enrolled for the 1st nursing class. Thanks so much for your help.

Re: UMass RN-BSN online updates please

Thus far for the nursing portion I have not taken any exams, but have written a ton of papers. I put in about 3 hours a week to complete my assignments. I am starting semester 4 of 5 in two weeks and will be done in May 09.

Gerry,

I've been following your progress. Wow .. you are almost there. Congrats!

I got accepted to UMass Lowell's BSN program but decided to put it on hold since I have many issues with the transfer department. I already have a BS and MS in chemistry. Now I am thinking that I should apply directly to a MSN program instead. Wondering if anyone here have comments about this decision.

Thanks.

Is it the pharm and nutrition CLEP tests? What books did you use to study?

I would go for the masters. For you, obtaining a BSN would be counter productive. Have you looked into the MSN (NP) program at MGH? You could still get your RN before you graduate ( I believe its after the first year or so). A coworker is in there program and seems to enjoy it.

Yes, almost finished. It has really gone by pretty fast!

It is not a clep. Its the NLN exam although its the same general principle as a CLEP. I bought a book called nutrition made easy, and a NCLEX pharm book. I also used my nursing school books for pharm. The test was easier than I thought it would be.
