Wow, gives me even more reason to move back to New England and begin practicing there rather than here in Florida. Anyhow have helpful info on the Children's hospitals there....I currently work at All Children's in St. Pete FL and love it because well, I can be a kid.

If this gets passed all the way, do you think that a lot of CNAs/PCAs/OT/PT jobs are going to get cut? I had heard rumors that would happen. Also, will facilities be able to get around this law by incorporating LPN's?

I don't know about PT's or OT's but I could see the CNA's and Techs being cut. There's nothing in the bill that mentions them except the RN will be limited in what can be delegated to CNA's....
The summary from the MNA article reads: "Assures that institutions cannot delegate to unlicensed personnel duties which demand nursing expertise."

That sould be interesting to see how this gets interpreted....could be good, could be bad.

I agree DavidNurseEMT - I think this bill will result in a lot of cuts to the CNA and Tech staff. I've heard from many nurses that there is concern that the bill will bring nurses back to the "dark ages" and will result in nurses being responsible for all the duties that are currently taken care of by aides, techs, PT, OT, etc.

So this bill is strictly for RN? what about safe nurse practices for LPNs? I work sub-acute and get overwhelmed with the amount of patients we have to care for
