Talking Private Duty Nursing

Hello Folks: I have been toying with the idea of advertising myself as a private duty nurse. I have 6+ years of hospital experience (orthopedics, med-surg, telemetry) and 1+ years of hospice experience. Mostly I would like to supplement my present income but am not sure how to go about getting started.

Is there anyone out there who wouldn't mind answering a few questions particularly concerning scope of practice issues, wage reporting, liability issues etc.? I would sincerely appreciate any advice. I have browsed the Massachusetts Dept of Health web site, the MNA, and the ANA but there are few, if any, available guidelines. There are courses you can take (for about $600++) on starting your own home health agency, but I hadn't planned on getting that involved!

Thanks for looking!
