Question Do any area hospitals hire new LPNs?

I've only heard that Saints Medical Center in Lowell hires LPN's, but chances are slim that they'd hire a new grad.

Do I have any chance of ever getting a job outside of LTC as an LPN, or am I just dreaming?

Where should I apply to get the most experience? My ultimate goal is to work in home care as an RN.

BTW, any LPN's out there who actually love where they're working?

Re: Do any area hospitals hire new LPNs?

Hi I worked as an LPN at the VA hospital in both Brockton and West Roxbury. Brockton is mainly long term care but W. Rox is a large teaching hosiptal. I worked on a Surgical floor with telemetry and learned so much. The VA is great for utilizing LPN's. I did everything that the RN's did except for a few things like give blood, mix IV meds and a few other minor things. I got my RN a few months ago and I'm back on the same surgical floor. You can't even tell the LPN's from the RN's unless you read their badges. The pay for LPN's at the VA is much higher than anywhere else from what I have heard also.

Wow, that's great! I forgot about the Bedford VA & Tewksbury State, which are closer to me. I think that might be worth looking into-especially for the experience. Thanks!

also New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton.........great place and the learning experience is great. They hire new grad LPN's. The only thing that LPN's do not do is hang blood and IV pushes and admissions.

Hi I am trying to get into an LPN program in Sep of 09. Do you happen to know if the VA has a program that I can get into with them before I go to school? I am a veteran and want to work at the VA to give back to the people that have helped me so much. Any info would be great or even point me to a specific posting area if you could. Thanks, Jerry
