Does anyone know anything about BMC's new grad ICU or float program?

I don't know too much about it. But for the float I think it's 6 months long. I know a few people that I graduated with that are working there, and I'm trying to apply there as well as a new grad. Been having a hard time looking for a job.

I am really interested to find out what is going on with you. My dad's girlfriend works in Boston North shore (not sure which hospital) but in ICU and she said new grads have NO problems finding jobs. Yet I know you are struggling. Are there certain positions you are applying to or are you wide open to all opportunities, are you going on interviews at all? I just keep reading your posts going WHAT IS GOING ON?!!! I was going to move to Boston as soon as I graduated but now I'm thinking I'll get a few years under my belt. Keep us informed.

Hehe thanks for the concern. Honestly I don't know why I am having so much trouble. I was looking to working in med/surg because I'm not sure what I'd like to specialize in yet. Though I was thinking ICU since I'd like to go to CRNA school someday. I actually do have a couple of interviews this week, one at a methodone clinic (not interested in doing that but willing to check what the place is like) and I have one at Beth Israel Thursday- for the second time! I also had an interview at the VA in Boston last Tuesday...waiting to hear later I guess. I was looking to work at Boston Medical, since I've heard a lot of good things about the new grad program, and I know a few people working there. I would actually suggest working a few years before moving out here. For new grads it seems to be hard..but for experienced nurses, there doesn't seem to be a problem to work out here. Yeah...I'm almost losing hope..but not yet! Again thanks for the concern.

I think that BIDMC since this is your 2nd interview, is a great sign.. Usually the 2nd interview means that you passed your first... God bless you, you are positive... Sending you good interview vibes.

Hey guys. Had my interview at BIDMC today and it went really really well. Hopefully I get an offer. Nurse manager said I had really strong and good qualifications, so I should hear something next week. Pretty excited

Hi Lena--I am just curious what did the nurse mgr mean by good qualifications? nursing school is very time consuming. im not sure what else i could do during school that would put me at the forefront of the application process? appreciate your feedback thanks!

When I was in school, I didn't have the time or energy to work as a CNA, I would advise you to perhaps see if you can get something per diem meaning you set your own hours. I would also suggest that if you are in your senior year start applying to hospitals now...In our area there are many new grad nurses and too few preceptors for us. As far as your resume, what I did is I rewrote my resume using tips from the career advice section of this forum and I also visited my school's career center. I wish you good luck in your studies as well as the job search. Feel free to PM me anytime if you need more help.
