I graduated from Deaconess in...1975. My class has never had a reunion and since I live in Charleston, SC now it's unlikely I'll ever attend one. Did you join the alumnae association? If you did, you know they have a meeting every year which is where most reunions take place. They also publish a newsletter which has class information. Sorry you didn't get a response from anyone in your class.

Actually, I did locate several people, one of whom, X is an X...Was kind of neat to hear from them all...Do you remember any of the instructors there?

Oh that's a tough question! I'd have to dig out my year book to remember instructor names! 1975 seems like another lifetime ago! was director of the school then.
I really like reading the alumnae newsletter. Always interesting to see how far some of the Deaconess grads have gone. It was a fantastic school. I remember how we joked around, when taking the Boards, that there wasn't one question that we hadn't covered in a class or taken care of a patient with that condition.
Great preparation for the Boards and the real world.
My family will be flying into Boston, later this month, to visit with family. It's been 5 years. I know as we land that old song...."love that dirty water, oh Boston you're my home..." will be running through my head.

Hey, great to hear from you! We called ourselves Deaconoids and made up some song about living in the red brick prison with no males or mail....

My memory of taking the boards was that huge unairconditioned room and some one seated next to me from another school nearly in tears because of all the questions on diabetes while I was thanking my lucky stars that there were so many questions about diabetes....Recall they told us not to bother studying for the boards because there was no way we couldn't know all there was to know....It was a great school.

Default Hi
Sorry I haven't had a chance to dig out my year book. I have been busy getting everything ready for leaving for Boston on Thursday. With 3 cats, two dogs and two kids that's a lot of work. This is also the week my hospital is having a credentialing fair that I have to attend on Wednesday. I'll have to be recredentialed on everything from Swans to Accuchecks and BCLS.
I go to Deaconess so pity me
There's not a boy in the vicinity
And every night at ten they lock the doors
I don't know what the hell I ever came here for....
And the other one
The food they have at Deaconess they say is mighty fine
A roll fell off the table and killed a friend of mine
Oh I don't want to go to Deaconess
Gee but I wanna go
But they won't let me go
Gee but I wanna go home...

Ring a bell?

No, those don't ring any bells with me but it has been awhile. Remember Copperfields ( was that the name of the bar down by the Fenway)..Have a great trip to Boston although this is a tough time to be there with all the buzz about the Democratic Convention...Everything is rerouted or closed in the immediate area. Definitely not the right planning went on..Have a great trip and thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Copperfields? No can't say that I do. I had an apartment on Comm. Ave after I graduated, not too far from Fenway. I love those old brownstones. Had a working fireplace too. Just a hop on the bus to Deaconess. Yes, it was poor planning on my part, the timing for visiting, but we'll get there before it starts and we'll mainly be on the North Shore. When we leave on the 28th it will be AM before they close too much down. We've been watching the web sites. After being away for five years any traffic is going to look bad to us!
