Not all states offer temporary permits anymore -- some have just done away with GN status altogether. What state are you in?

We don't have temporary licenses in MD. And, just an FYI, our BON is very slow at responding. I've actually had to go there in person because it's nearly impossible to get through to them.

I'm just letting you know this in preparation for dealing with them. Best of luck on your graduation!

The MD BON is the most frustrating bureacracy I've ever dealt with.
To work at a job as a GN, you need to have CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) license.
You're qualified for this after having passed Fundamentals of Nursing or equivalent.

To get this license you almost have to go to their office. More than once. They tell you on the phone what they need, you go there, they need something else. I heard this from so many people, and did not believe it till it happened to me.

I swear the people that work there spend the better part of their time trying to figure out how NOT to let you have what you need.

Be persistant, and good luck!
