Thats pretty low. I have friends who are new graduate LPNs that started at that rate.

Good observation, JHH is noted for a low base. They offer their "name/rep" on your resume as the trade off. They do offer diffs and perks though that could allow a really motivated nurse to make quite a bit more.

I just returned from Bmore yday. JHH is paying $26-29 now.

Were those LPNs working in hospital settings? or the dreaded LTC? Curious to know.

Thanks for adding this, $26-$29 sure isn't bad and I can somewhat appreciate the Hopkins name but I think its a bit over rated.

The LPNs I know as new grads making in the low-mid 20s are working in hospitals, mostly on the "geriatric" type units. It seems to me that in the Balto. area there are quite a few hospitals still using LPNs. A couple are doing per diem in LTC and they are getting $28. I'm no fan of LTC either but if I'm worth an extra $800 a month I'd consider it. Hopefully I wil find a happy medium when I get my RN.

Re: JHH starting salary for new grad RN

JHH has an awesome clinical ladder program that could potentially help drive your career further than other hospitals' programs. Staff RNs at JHH create poster presentations, participate in research and author papers. They also have a great tuition program. If I still lived in MD I would be working there right now.

If you complete your BSN or MSN at JHU do you have an edge in terms of finding employment at JHH, or are the chances relatively the same as other new grads? Just curious...I'd love to take advantage of their tuition reimbursement
