Thanks Boonersmom. Yes, I'll be attending Catonsville's Day Program. I am soooooooooo excited. Do you have any advice. I hear Nurn150 is hard. How should I study. I have a 3 year old daughter. Was it hard to balance school and family? Congrats Skyblue77.

WHen you are done with the program you will look back and think Nurn 150 was easy...but when you are in it- it's seems pretty hard! My best advice is to tape record the lectures and listen to them again and get the books " Fundamentals Success" and a good NCLEX book ( Saunders, Lippincott, etc) and do as many " nclex" style questions as you can because that is the style you will be tested in. For clinicals make sure you show up ON time IN uniform with EVERYTHING you need. Also USE the skills lab open lab time if you need it. Brennan and McDade are VERY good teachers. You will hear a lot of "gossip" around the building...please take eveyrthing with a grain of salt. The majority of people who do not do well do NOT apply themselves.

It was hard to balance school + family in the beginning. Please talk to your family beforehand and make sure they know they will have to make some sacrifices for you....my house was a WRECK most of the time..haha.....but there is always time to clean later. Also dont be surprised if you lose a HUGE chunk of your class to Fundamentals...we literally lost almost 50% but from that point on we lost very few people.

Re: CCBC Nursing Students

Thanks Skyblue77, its ok I totally understand. I am still bouncing around full of excitement.

Thanks for the advice Boonersmom. I have heard a lot of good things about Mrs. Mcdade and Mrs. Brennan, so I am really looking forward to this and all of the challenges along the way.

Re: CCBC Nursing Students

Once you get into CCBC's nursing program, how long does it usually take to finish? Can you do it in one year if you also take classes during break or is the scheduling/order of the classes pretty regimented pre-set?

It's set. It will take you 2 years. There are no classes to "advance" you during your breaks.

Re: CCBC Nursing Students

I plan on eventually applying for the evening/weekend program as well. May I ask what your GPA and TEAS scores were? Fortunately I work for a hospital and when I get to nursing school they will let me work part time and keep my benefits and full time salary to attend nursing school.

Re: CCBC Nursing Students

Hi Scarcity21!
Congratulations, are you excited?! I can't wait to start, I say that now but I'm sure I'll be begging for free time when we do start. I start Dosage on Monday, can't wait to get that out of the way. Just got my physical paperwork filled out and finished my background check. I still have to take my CPR course. Can't wait to me you.

Dancinagain, I don't mind answering your questions. I have a 3.8 GPA and I got a 82% on my TEAS. Good luck and that's awesome your job provides such amazing benefits! Which hospital do you work at?

Venus~
