Hi everyone!
I am thinking about applying to UMA... Just wanted to know what the nursing program is like, and what to expect.

Re: Uma

HI,
I am currently in UMA Nursing Program. It is a good program and has a high NCLEX passing score. I will graduate in May of 2007. Welcome and join our Nursing Program.

Re: Uma

Hello there - I am currently about to start my 2nd year in the nursing program at UMA. I am on the Student Nurse Association as well - I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have about the program!

Re: Uma

Jennybenny78, I've been trying to find out some info about the UMA program (I will enter it Fall 07, unsure which site, Terry Lawson tells me I am #1 for Machias, #11 for Ellsworth, high 40's for Augusta..) can you tell me what your schedule looks like..I have 'heard' that it runs Monday through Thursday. Have also heard about math tests throughout semesters, is this true?

Hi! I hope you don't mind if I butt right in. I'm an RN who graduated from UMA.

UMA's nursing lecture classes are ALWAYS Monday and Thursday from 10:00 to 12:45. Some semesters you may get out at 12:30 and in the 102 class (that's second semester) I believe that class is held every Monday and every other Thursday (if memory serves me right). The Lab and Clinicals are always on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The math test runs through part of the semester. You have 4 attempts to pass with a calculator (it used to be 10 without a calculator). I believe you have to pass by the 9th or 10th week of school, but it may be a little longer for 1st year students.

If you're desperate to get in next fall I say go with wherever you can get in. The Augusta campus will definitely have spots open by the middle of the semester so you can switch to that site it's better for you (I don't know where you live). This semester two people have already left the 101 class!

Re: Uma

JPine, thank you for your time to respond!

I am located in Bucksport, so Ellsworth would be perfect for me, but after waiting this long I will drive to Machias/or Augusta if needed, but worried if I will be able to do it for a long period of time financially (gas).

That is amazing that 2 have left 101 already!
