Some things I miss about Maine, but I don't miss the cold and having to shovel all that snow.

Gayle,
I wrote this little story for a friend who really misses snow! She is in Florida now and just dying to be here ... I edited a bit!

Meanwhile, out on the lake, Gayle lazily dangled her fishing pole over the side of the boat. Dragonflies buzzed around her head like mini motorboats; she flinched when one came near but otherwise she marveled at the way they skimmed the surface of the water. The sun was hot on her face.
Suddenly a dark cloud floated overhead and the sky grew dim. The air grew noticeably cooler. "Oh dang," she muttered. "I can never catch a break."
Then she felt something tickle the tip of her nose. She jumped a bit, then noticed something cool landing on her cheek. She looked up.
A thousand fluffy snowflakes began to fall as she watched. They floated down singly, then in pairs, then in crowds. She put her hands out to catch them, to look at them and their crystallized patterns as they melted on her palm. Her eyes began to water, her mouth curling up in the crookedest happy grin.
Soon there was enough snow accumulated on the bottom of the boat that she could make a snowball. As she packed the snow into a cold, dense pile she wondered at the redness of her hands and the delightful numbness of her fingers.
Then she looked up, across the lake, and her beautiful delighted eyes searched, then found. Suddenly, all the members of the Allnurses board saw her on their screens, sitting there in the boat, smiling and laughing like a child, and looking at every person as they sat immobilized at their desks. They peered at the screen and the image was real, and suddenly ...
SPLAT! The snowball struck each one in the forehead!

Have a wonderful weekend Gayle!
