West Jefferson Hospital

Hi,

I was thinking about moving home and going to work for West Jefferson Medical Center. If you have worked there recently (since the hurricane) as a R.N., or know some that that has and can give me any idea of what it is like there, please write me back.

Thanks!

Re: West Jefferson Hospital

Hi,

I'm also thinking about moving back home. I actually was down there this week. Most of all my family live on the westbank in Jefferson Parrish. I don't know much about the Nursing Conditions for RN's but I do no that the Picayune Times newspaper had atleast 3 pages wanting for RN's,LPN's and CNA's. Also my cousin just got her CNA certs about 2 weeks ago and started a new job that next week starting off at 10/hr at a Nursing Home from 10pm-7am. This being said just image the pay for Hospital jobs in Nursing and pay rates. I know in Memphis TN as a new CNA your lucky to even start with a base pay of 8.50/hr. Also I have family members who work at West Jefferson Hospital and they seem to be doing fine. New Orleans is slowly recovering. I would say that most people are on the Westbank and they are doing wonderful. I plan on moving back in Feb.
Hope this helped you out!

Re: West Jefferson Hospital

Thanks for the reply MaleSudent Nurse! I have accepted a job down there and I am going to be starting it January 8th. Keep in touch and I will let you know what I think about it. I will just be happy to have a job with benefits as I have been a travel nurse for over a year now.

Thanks!

Re: West Jefferson Hospital

I'm glad to hear the great news. I probably will return back home in Feb or early March. Yes I agree benefits are always a plus. You never know maybe we will run into each other on the floor! Best of wishes to you.
