Touro or Ochsner?

Hi everyone.
I'm thrilled to be moving to New Orleans soon, have interviewed at both Touro and Ochsner and been offered positions at both. Currently, I'm leaning towards Touro but am concerned about it's lack of Magnet status and was cautioned by a RN who left New Orleans after Katrina that the management at Touro is not so great to the staff.

I am eternally grateful to any nurses, unlicensed professionals, and other staff who can give me advice about working at either hospital. From my outside perspective, the benefits at Touro seem better.

Thank you!!

Re: Touro or Ochsner?

I'm currently a pre-nursing student, but was a certified but unlicensed health care professional. I worked as a scrub tech for a private practice physician, we did surgery at several local area hospitals. Touro was one of the best I worked at. (This was pre-Katrina, but I don't see any reason why it should have changed.) Other hospitals were sometimes resentful that my Dr. brought his own scrub, but Touro was always more than accommodating. Made me feel right at home. (Even tho' I wasn't an RN or staff.) I know this doesn't tell you how it will be to be a staff RN there, but I figure if they could treat a total outsider with respect they are bound to threat their own at least as good.
