Talking Omg!!! I Still Have A Chance!!!

I just got my rejection letter from NSU....BUT.....in the letter they say that instead of just accepting 10 people for Fall 07, they are trying to increase the number of applicants offered admission significantly. It will probably be after July 1, 2007 when they find out if they can get funding for it or something. They will let me know about my admission status as soon as they find out.

I took 2 classes this last semester, and made 2 A's, so my GPA now for the NSU Associate's degree curriculum is a 2.8...if I figured it out right. I am about to call "the man" and see if I can make an appointment with him to find out what my scores were, and what can I do to better my chances.

I am taking A&P II Lab this summer (retaking it)....so if I make an A...my GPA would be 2.83...I don't think they would take that grade though. Then next semester, all I have to take is Psych 212, and if I make an A in that....my GPA will be 2.92. Hopefully I would have a better chance with that GPA next year when it's time to send in applications than this year.

Thanks for letting me rave.

Maya

Re: Omg!!! I Still Have A Chance!!!

OK So Here's the deal with NSU Associate's Degree

I just had a meeting with "the man"...he told me that they did away with the points system they had been using...now they choose the people that have the first 36 hours complete and go by PAX scores (that would be the first batch)....the second batch are the people who have one class left to take and PAX scores...the third batch are the people who have two classes left to take and PAX scores... and so on. I am trying to write this so it makes sense, LOL

He said about 36 people qualified but were not admitted this year. And they are trying to let 30 more people in the program for Fall 07 (won't know unitl after July 1). So that leaves only 6 people not getting in, and he said that there are some people that need to take like 8 more classes. So I am keeping my fingers crossed!!! He told me that I have a very good chance of being accepted if they do let 30 people in.

I'm so excited!!!

I am also in the Associate's program at NSU..I am in Nur 1050 right now and we are taking the TEAS...Do we take the PAX too?? We were told they still used the points system in class Monday LOL....I am so confused now. And why would you need A & P II lab?? You don't have to take the labs for the Associates..

Edit: Ohhhh nevermind you are talking about Nichols aren't you? hehe my bad. I was thinking Northwestern.

Anyway, good luck!! I know how nervous you must be.

I think you probably need to re-calculate your GPA if you get an A in the courses you are re-taking. Your GPA would go WAY higher than just .03 percentage point.

Be sure you are SUBTRACTING the HOURS and the GRADE POINTS first and then adding back in what you are planning to get an A in.

I think it just went up .03 because the class is only 1 hour. I will refigure it though. I will take Pysch 212 in the Fall. But "the man" at Nicholls said you don't really need to take that class until your senior year. Come to think of it, it might be better to wait to take it, so I don't forget things before my senior year gets here.

Thanks for the reply!
