Re: I Dont Know What To Do

I'm sorry that you are feeling so lost. If I were you, I would stick it out and finish your RN. I'm in my last semester of a BSN program, I know how tough it can be. If nursing is really what you want to do, I think it will be worth it to stay where you are. Maybe get a tutor, or ask your instructors for help (they seem scary, but most are willing to help if you ask!) Good luck! You will make the right decision!

Re: I Dont Know What To Do

I guess I don't understand. If you are already in the 3rd year of a nursing program why you have not been doing clinicals, and what your GPA has to do with it. In all the nursing programs I know of you start clinicals in the 2nd semester. If your GPA is keeping you out of clinicals how can you still be in the nursing program?

i got to ULL... you are in the nursing program as soon as u start class (like your first semester freshman year)... to get into your first clinical u have to have a 2.8 to even be considered... and the avg GPA now is at least 3.0... ive been in school for 3 yrs (about to start my 4th)... i talked to my counselor the other day and she told me to change my major... y do they make it sooo hard and try to discourage everyone... i just dont know if i can take their bull no more....

Re: I Dont Know What To Do

Ok, your major is in Nursing and you have done the prereqs but are NOT in the Nursing program yet because you haven't been accepted into it due to low gpa.

As to what you should do depends on how much you want to be a nurse.
1. You could stay and repeat classes in order to get the gpa needed. Costs more money and time.
2. Try and get into a community college with your prereqs. But in several areas it is even more competitive to get into a cc due to the lower price. They can have a waiting list of a few years.
3. You could apply to an LPN school. Community college is again very competitive and private schools being expensive. Either way it is not an "easy" option.
All three options require hard work and dedication. As to which is better for you. You need to find out just what it would take to be accepted into the nursing program where you are. If it is just a few classes, stay and get it done. If more then you might want to consider going up the steps of nursing.

Re: I Dont Know What To Do

Hi,

Call OLOL Community College and see what GPA they require. I am in one of their accelerated programs for which you need a BS first. GPA was not the most important criteria for entrance, the essay and interview were.

University Nursing programs are the hardest to get into, so do try a community college program. Call a bunch. Y

You sound a little depressed. Have a good cry, then get back on the horse. This is one of those bumps in life that are so discouraging. Learn to handle these now at your age and you will sail through life.

Good Luck.. send me a private message if you need a shoulder
