Charity School of Nursing

I was wondering if anyone could give me the site to look up charity school of Nursing's curriculum. I live in Memphis,TN and plan on moving back to the west bank of New Orleans. So I'm trying to weigh my options on if I should go to school down there or continue my education here. I'm pretty glad with the curriculum here. To obtain a BSN you don't have to take Chemistry or any gen bio classes. The sciences here at the college I was looking into only ask for A&P1 and 2, Micro,Patho, and Pharm 1 and 2. I feel that is pretty reasonable instead of alot of classes like gen bio which is giving in A&P along with chemistry. Nevertheless, so if anyone could leave the site for me with Charity curriculum I would greatly appreciate it. Also, is Delgado ASN program joined to Charitys or what is it? Please explain...

Thanks a Million!

Re: Charity School of Nursing

Welcome home, the site for Delgado is dcc.edu where you will find links to Charity's ASN program. While you can apply to Charity from any school, Delgado has all of the pre-requisite classes that are required. I took the pre-requisite of Anatomy lecture and lab, set 1 and set 2 at Nicholls, and Micro and Math 118 at Delgado. Of course, the other pre-requisites of English, History etc. can be taken at any other recognized University. Pharmacy is not required nor is Pathology or Chemistry.

Good luck

Thanks, I tried to pull up the site where you could look at the curriculum but it wouldn't allow me online. I know you don't need Pharmacology or Pathophysiology since its a ASN program. And I have taken English Comp1, Principle of Nutrition, Psychology, and Intro to A&P1 already to name a few. What is Math118? How do they formulate the program.... What are all of the pre-reqs required? Do you have to take them before entering the program? Is it a enterance exam required. Here in Memphis,TN we have to take NLN or a Hobbet exam. Do they send out catalogs? I shall call them I guess and see if they can send me one.

Re: Charity School of Nursing

I see what you mean by being denied access, I could not get on either, strange.

Ok, lets see:
Math 118 is college algrebra - not lineal equations although they will take the lineal equation course which, in every university, is the first math.

you will need:
English 101 and 102
History 101 and 102
college algrebra
Anatomy 1 and lab
Anatomy 2 and lab
Microbiology
Psych 101 (not sure about this)
Psych - from birth to death or Life Span Psychology
Comp Lit
Art Elective
In typical nursing program fashion, while some of the pre-rqs are shown as being taken with the clinicals in reality they all have to be taken before you are accepted in the program.
We also have to take the PAX exam, which is a "rose by any other name", meaning, no matter what you call it, it is the entrance exam. Your score must be a 100 or above. Also I think Delgado has a 2.5 (or 2.7) cut off on GPA.
Yes, if you call them they will send you a catalog.
let me know if you need the number
good luck

I am doing this from memory - I was accepted into the program for Spring but turned it down so I threw away all my paperwork. I am going into another program. If anyone can correct anything I put, please do so.

you will need:
English 101 and 102-----this is correct
History 101 and 102----not needed
college algrebra---must take 2 maths 118 and higher
Anatomy 1 and lab---correct
Anatomy 2 and lab----correct
Microbiology---correct
Psych 101 (not sure about this)----must take psych 127
Psych - from birth to death or Life Span Psychology---not needed
Comp Lit---not needed
Art Elective--- correct

You must also have:

humanities elective
gen biology 141 and lab

Must apply at least a year in advance-
must take pax and score 100-
start hep b shots in advance of starting nursing school

Hi,

I am not sure if you have received the info you need regarding Charity's program requirements; if you haven't you may go to Delgado Community College , click on Admissions, then on the left side of the screen, click on Resources, then click on the 2006-2007 catalog. The requirements are found on pages 174-175.

Best wishes to you (wherever you go.)

P.S. It is a challenging, but excellent program. I just graduated from there.
