ST changes--diagnostic?

How much ST depression is significant/diagnostic for ischemia on EKG? And how about ST elevation?
I've been told 1 mm ST depression in contiguous leads is significant, but it's not "diagnostic" until 2mm...??? And that 1mm ST elevation=significant.
This was a discussion at work today---
Thanks for your input

Re: ST changes--diagnostic?

I think you're right on with the 1mm in two or more contiguous leads, but I wouldn't term it "diagnostic". maybe a better term would be "indicative" of further investigation.
also I would be interested in seeing any reciprocal change in other leads as well, and comparing to previous 12 leads. I am assuming you're talking about elevation on the initial EKG, most of the ones I acquire are at least the 2nd and I'm looking for a continuing or extending infarct.
