Lightbulb Nitro tubing

I was just informed (from our material management group) that we no longer needed nitro tubing for nitro drips. Standard tubing was OK. They said we were 10 years behind. Is everyone using standard IV tubing for nitro??

I don't know about being 10 years behind the times, but at least a couple of years. It was found that normal tubing only absorbs a small amount of the NTG before it will no longer absorb it, and this occurs over the first 2 hours as a rule.

If you do a search on nitroglycerin IV tubing using a good search engine, such as www.google.com ,you should be able to get a a good amount of reading on the subject.

But, don't worry, when I worked in Lawton a little over a year ago we were still using nitro tubing.

We've been using regular IV tubing for several years now at my facility.

We are still using the low absorption giving sets for nitro. Have not even heard a murmur that we don't need to. That don't surprise me any though..we always seem to be years behind here
I love this site..it gives me things to pursue at work to drag em into the 21st century!

We are still using nitro tubing at our facility, however, it has been going around that the standard tubing is okay if there is not nitro tubing available.
