Hi all--does anyone know where I can find an on-line site for vasoactive drug dosing tables? I never use the things, preferring my trusty calculator, but one of my employees has requested a table as a reference.

I have just wasted an hour searching many critical-care and emergency nursing websites and databases and can't find what I'm looking for. I just want something simple I can download and send to her as a file. Can anyone help? Thanks!

stargazer, try contacting your pharmacy and asking them if they have one. at my hospital we have titration tables for most of the meds in medi-tech and if we ever need to have a drug added to it, pharmacy is a huge help. teri

We have a drug calculator built into our moniters, it's great, we can print out the table also. I am on vacation till next wensday, if you can wait till then i'll print one out and scan it and email it to ya, but email me to remind me to do it

We have it built in our monitors too. I am not sure if this is the formula you are looking for but I keep this on the back of my badge:

mg/cc x 1000/60/Kg of weight = constant of mcg/Kg/min

then multiply it by your cc/hr and that is how many mcg/hr they are getting.

should find any titration for critical care drugs in a ICU reference book.
A good one I have is called Kathy White learning systems, fast facts. It is compact and has lots of info for reference and a good section on IV drugs and titration.

I do a proportion... it's easy and quick

our ntg is 50mg/500cc bottle so each 3cc= 5mcg.

we don't weight base so solve for X

3cc X (how many ml's per hr you will set the pump at)
____ ___
5mcg dose (say 10mcg/min)


your dose 10mcgX3cc = 30
_____________
5mcg X

you need X by itself, so divide 5mcg into both

30 \ 5 = 6cc

After using it a few times, you know that for every 5 mcg you increase or decrease, it's 3 ml's per hour;

5mcg = 3cc/hr
10 mcg = 6cc/hr
15 mcg = 9cc/hr

See that algebra was good for something!
