Re: Anyone else studying for CCRN exam?

Ok, I have just read through everyone of these messages and just purchased the Gasparis Vonfrolio DVDs and Pass CCRN. I have been wanting to do this for a long time and all of you have inspired me to go for it. I have been an ICU nurse for 13 years and did 2 years in cardiac step-down before that. Eight years in a med/surg ICU and the last 5 years in trauma/neuro/surgical ICU.

Assuming I get all of my materials in about a week, what should my timeline be as far as studying/taking the test? How long did most of you prepare?

If I recall, you have a 3 month window in which to schedule your exam, once you apply to take it. With your vast experience, that will be plenty of time if you spend an hour or so a day preparing. I am sure that others will respond with their timelines as well.....

Welcome to our little group of CCRN's!!!

You WILL be successful, there is no doubt about it!!

3 months minimum. A lot will depend on how tired you are after a 12 hour shift. With your experience and the materials, you will do well. Congrats to all that have recently passed and joined the ranks in the CCRN world.

Hey graduate_2002!!! Tomorrow is your date, is it not??? How are you feeling?

I know you are going to pass!!!, just go in confident and remember don't let those 25 unanswerable questions rattle you!! You are already a CCRN certified nurse!! You have done all the preparation, now just go in there and get through this last leg of your journey. Also, what are you going to do to reward yourself?? Very important that you do something to acknowledge your hard work and commitment!!!

Sending you good wishes and white light!! Let us know....Go for it sister!!!

I got 111 correct answers with a passing score of 87 correct answers? Maybe the 111 is due to those 25 non-graded questions

I got 33% on Renal which sucked!

Cardio 93%
Pulmonary 86%
Endocrine, Hematology, Neuro & GI 100%
Multisystem 90%
Synergy 88%
Congrats Legaltrends, CCRN!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone else studying for CCRN exam?

Just checking in to say I passed!!!!!! Woohoo! I feel great and like I have accomplished something big, I feel like I have become a more competent nurse by studying for this exam. I recommend that every critical care nurse do it! It was very comparable to the PASS CCRN practice exams, maybe a little harder it seemed, but I felt very prepared from using Gasparis' DVDs and doing those practice exams!

Here are my scores:

I got 104/125 correct 83% (same as my practice exams! )

Cardio: 88% I was pleasantly shocked! I sucked on practice exam with cardio!
Pulmonary: 75%
Endocrine: 100%
Hemat/Immunology: 100%
Neuro: 100%
Gastro: 86%
Renal: 83%
Multi: 60% What the heck!? I was doing great on practice exam here!
Professional/Synergy Model: 80%

Overall, I am happy with my performance, I studied hard and it paid off! Thanks for everything!
