Re: Anyone else studying for CCRN exam?

Hello, I am planning on taking a review course in Louisville, Ky starting in Aug. It is a one day a month course to prepare for testing in Dec. I am thinking about buying a bood called- The Specialty of Rehab Nursing, a Core Curriculum. Fourth ED. Have you heard of it? What study material are you using?

Re: Anyone else studying for CCRN exam?

Hi. I take the test on Sept 16th. I have only told about 3 people where I work (two my bosses) that I am taking it. I have the AACN review CD-ROMS and the Review book by Gasparis Vonfrolio and PASS CCRN by Dennison. I am nervous. I scheduled to take it after the kids start back to school. Next I want to take the CSC certification (God willing I pass the CCRN)

does anyone here do cvvh/prisma? I'm looking for some kind of online ed thing
crrtonline.com

The bad part about crrt is that usually your patients are IN THE TOILET and circling the drain. Lots of paperwork and RUN RUNNING. Keep lots if the little blue hemastats (real ones will puncture the kine) and REALLY talk to the dialysis nurses. They can give you all kinds of great tricks. (like how to return blood FAST)

YYAAAAAYYYYY!!!! Welcome on board!!! You make the 9th person on this thread who is going to be taking the test in the next couple of months!!! The one thing you don't have is the Vonfrolio DVD course. That is very helpful. She steps you through every system in a very entertaining way and points out specifics that you should know. It also comes with a study guide with pearls that are very good. I am using that course as my main focus. I also have David Woodruff's course, in which he guarantees you will pass the test or he will pay for your next exam, but Dr Laura's is much better. It is $150 on her website greatnurses.com and you could sell it afterwards on ebay, if you felt you could part with it!!! She has become my new nursing hero! She is totally pro-nurse and a huge advocate for nurses. I have been told that hemodynamics is the hardest part of the test, and with your CV background you should do great. I will send you a personal message with tips I have received.

the 9 of us after we pass!!!!

expensive mistake!
I don't know the cost of Xigris but there is a very narrow window that it can be used there is a check list a mile long that patients have to meet the criteria for it. The orgin of the sepsis has to be determined in a certain time frame (yeah sure that happens often). And Xigris can make you bleed. PLT count will going the toilet. We have used it several times usually on younger patients with good results.

By the way....Our PRISMA inservice was a joke. You have to do it a bunch to get it...

Say, I don't have those DVD's that the rest of you have...would you say it is worth me buying them, even though I have Laura's book and the Pass stuff?? Maybe I'll look on ebay, I'm trying to save my pennies!!

And welcome CVICURN! I'm sure you will do great with that background!

You are kidding me!! You have got to have her DVD course. She tells you exact questions that will be on the test and her presentation and stories are amazing!! Look for a PM from me.

Re: Anyone else studying for CCRN exam?

How long are the DVD's? Does she have a CD that has questions? I have the book. That's why I have not gone to a review course, I don't do well sitting for HOURS watching stuff (lecture in school almonst killed me). I will watch the parts I have trouble with (Like neuro....give me a heart any day...I run from strokes) but will it be worth it to buy them? I already have a small fortune invested in this and where I work pays ZERO (really sore subject). I have the AACN lecture that I bought before I found this thread....)
