Smile ACLS Differential Diagnosis

2 years ago when I studied for Acls, I had learned a mnemonic for the differential diagnosis. I cannot remember this. Does anyone have any hints for remembering them? Thanks

Re: ACLS Differential Diagnosis

The 10 differential diagnosis for Advanced Cardiac Life Support are:
Hypovolemia, Hypoxia, Hydrogen ion (acidosis), Hyper/hypo kalemia, Hypothermia, Tablets (overdose), Tamponade (cardiac), Tension pneumonthorax, Thrombosis (cornonary) & Thrombosis ( pulmonary embolism).
I can't remember the mnemonic to remember them.

Re: ACLS Differential Diagnosis

Since the new changes, it is now the H's and the T's.

It used to be:

Hey - hypovolemia
Hey - hypoxia
Hey - hypokalemia
T - --tension pneumothorax
H - --hypothermia
A - --acidosis
T - --cardiac tamponade
(s)
E - --pulmonary embolus
M - --massive MI
D - --drug overdose

The H's and the T's are:

hypovolemia
hypoxia
hypokalemia
hyperkalemia
hypothermia
hypogycemia
hydrogen ion
(and, hypocalcemia is included, but not on the list)

tension pneumo
tamponade
trauma
toxins
thrombus pulmonary
thrombus MI

Re: ACLS Differential Diagnosis

I originally learned them as:
CHEAP MD

Cardiac Tamponade
Hypoxia, Hypovolemia, Hydrogen Ions, Hyper (Hypo) glycemia, Hyper (hypo) kalemia
Embolus PE and Embolus MI
Acidose
Pneumothorax

Myocardial Infarction
Drug Overdose

Now that it's the 6 H's and 6 T's..............I just remember them individually..........and remember they are not just the differential diagnosis for PEA anymore...........but also apply to bradycardias, tachycardias, as well as PEA.

Hypovolemia
Hypoxia
Hydrogen ions
Hyper & Hypokalemia
Hyper & Hypoglycemia
Hypothermia
Trauma
Tension Pneumothorax
Thrombus MI
Thrombus PE
Trauma
Toxins or Tablets
