Question In need of IV certification

Can anyone tell me where I can go to get my IV certification? I have been working in Kentucky over a year, at first depending on my education department to set me up with a class....well like I said have been there over a year now!! Very frustrating not being able to start my own IV's, plus could you imagine the frustration of having to start another nurses IV's. All the nurses I work with are wonderful helping with this situation...but really,,,enough is enough!! I know it's silly but I don't feel like a "real nurse". I went to nursing school in a different state that relied on the job you obtained to certify you, well I worked in LTC and it wasn't necessary. If anyone can let me know what to do I would really appreciate it!

This web site may be able to help you find a IV cert class:

I had similar difficulties when I began as a nurse. It took me about a year before I was comfortable starting IV's. I asked my nurse educator to take me around the hospital one day to start IV's. If they are not willing to help you, you should speak with your unit manager. IV cert. is helpful, but unfortunately starting IV's just takes practice
