Does anyone know any info about the Bowling Green Comm. College ASN program thru WKU? What is their pass rating? Also, do they take KY students before TN students? Any info would be appreciated!

I am in the BSN program in WKU school of nursing (it includes the ADN program at the community college and the BSN and MSN programs on the main campus). They don't give priority to Kentucky residents (I am also from TN). But they are hard to get into and I have heard that the ADN program requires experience as CNA but I believe this is a rumor (the BSN program does not). I love WKU's nursing and it is worth the struggle. If you have any questions I have answers! (or will try to get them) ~Madampomfrey

I attend BGCC. It is a wonderful program! I think they base admission on overall GPA (emphasis on GPA in science courses), number of completed pre-req classes, and I do believe they look at previous experience but it is not required. Here is a link to the program. www.bgcc.wku.edu/

I graduated from this program in 2004--would not ever do it again!! A few things have changed since then-- at that time out of a group of 30--when you started your first semester only around 17-20 ended up passing, either people failed or dropped out and went else where. There were a few good nurses there that had good teaching skills and there were MANY whom you would be better sitting at home poking needles in your eye then waste 4 hours listening to in class. Now you have to take an entrance test and have a lot of the prereq's done. Other places have many programs that may be better and closer to you. TSU possibly--a friend from work is going to go there and he says the program seems a lot less stressful. WKU ADN--they don't want you to have a job, family, or any other things that would get in the way of you passing...they are trying to clean up the past.

Could any of you tell me where you do your clinical at? Since I live in TN and an hour away from the school, I need to know for daycare reasons. Most daycares do not open until 6:00 or 6:30. I would hate to get into the program and find out that the clinicals are an extra hour away! I would never be able to get there.

Every Semester There Are Clinicals Availible In Bowling Green--first Semester Is Usually At A Nursing Home In The Area, Second Through Fourth Has Choices Ranging From The Medical Center, Greenview And Some Have An Option Of Springfield, Tn And Glasgow. With Psych You Will Go To Different Area Places In Bowling Green And Ob Is At The Medical Center. I Know The Last Few Semesters There Was A Choice In Taking A Morning 7-3 Clinical Or An Afternoon 3-10ish.
