?? re: working for KU hospital

I have some questions for anyone who works at KU (the hospital, that is, not the university itself).

1. I hear they have a weekend option--do you have anymore specific details on that? Is it for every specialty (I would want mother-baby and/or L&D)? Do you have to work there a specific amount of time before you can do the weekend option? How much exactly is it--does it work out to be the equivalent of "work two days, get paid for three?"

1A. What does "weekend" mean, in terms of nights? Is it Friday and Saturday night, or is it Sat and Sunday night?

2. I want to do the RN-MSN program, probably ending with a CNM/ARNP. I see on their website that you can get up to 6 hours tuition reimbursment for classes. Does this include graduate level classes? Can you take advantage of this indefinitely, or do they only allow a certain maximum number of classes?

3. I live in east Lawrence--what is the commute like, honestly? Will it take over an hour each way? Yahoo maps puts it at 45 minutes--is this realistic? I'm not moving, my husband has a job here and my kids are happy in their schools.

4. What is the insurance like? Living in Lawrence, will I have any PCP options here? Or will everything be based in KC, so that I will end up paying out of network/out of pocket for my family's care?

Any other input? Thanks in advance!

J
