If you are looking for a BSN, the Nazerene (sp) University in Olathe Ks. has an excellent BSN program. Park University in Parkville has an excellerated LPN to RN program, and I think that Rockhurst College also has a RN program.

So, as I said, don't be too upset that you didn't get into the JCCC program, cause you have a lot of other options out there.

Good luck, and keep us posted!
Dan
Rockhurst College's RN program is right in Research Med. on site

LPN program

Well, I'm happy to say that I was accepted to JCCC's LPN program. I'm looking forward to starting it in August. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to bridge over into the RN program next summer...

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll bridge over just fine and look forward to seeing you Aug 2006

Tember you're in my nutrition course! I'm Katharine.

I would recommend St. Luke's if KU puts up roadblocks or costs a good deal of money. St. Luke's Hospital is the best hospital to work for in Kansas City.

Well, it's nice to talk to you in another online realm!
I've heard great things about St. Luke's Hospital, and if my husband and I stay in the area I would like to work there. I start the LPN program at JCCC next week and I'm really looking foward to finally getting started on my nursing education. I did look at both programs (KU and St. Luke's), but upon getting into the LPN program in early June I decided not to pursue either of those programs at the moment. Since it worked out this way, I'm going to try to bridge into an ADN program and then get my BSN online. I have a classmate who's an RN and she's about to start the combo BSN/MS program at KU. This too is an attractive idea--getting both degrees in one shot while already working as an RN.
In your nutrition class intro you mentioned KU's online BSN, do you know how competitive that program is?

No I don't. I know that most ADN's do not go on to get a BSN as they can already earn a decent wage, so I would assume that it isn't highly competitive. Not as much as getting into nursing school without an RN, in any case.

I felt like that Nutrition course was excellent! Did you have a good experience?

St Lukes

I was thinking about applying at St Lukes hospital on the plaza. What do you guys know about the hospital? What makes it the best hospital in KC?

Nutrition class was informative. It certainly required constant up-keep, so I'm glad it's over! I was taking micro lecture and lab at the same time in addition to working, so I was worn out the entire eight weeks! You added a lot to the class discussions--I enjoyed reading your posts. Are you enrolled in the online BSN program yet? Let me know how it goes.
