JCCC Nursing Program

I was just wondering if any of you applied to JCCC Rn program for the fall 2004 semester. If so, have you gotten any information about the interviews? I got a letter a month ago saying that all my paper work is complete and they would let me know if I qualify for an interview. The interviews start in March and I'm starting to get nervous!

Have you tried calling them? I applied to bridge into the KCKCC program in the fall. I have my fingers crossed. I hope you get in!

I automatically qualified for an interview because of the courses that I have completed (2 sciences courses, comp 1 and communications course). I got my letter yesterday (2-26-04). If you havent heard anything you should call them.

I ended up getting my letter! I had my interview 2/26. Now I have to play the waiting game! I won't find out until the end of March or the beginning of April!
Good luck to you on your interview if you haven't had it yet!

My interview only took 15-20 minutes. It was with only one interviewer. Most of the questions were situational type questions. For example, what would you do if you saw a co-worker taking a patient's pain medication? Another one was, you smell alcohol on a co-worker's breath, what do you do? What qualities do you possess that would make you a good nurse? I cannot even begin to explain the last question she asked me. It really stumped me. I kind of just guessed. Now I've been second guessing myself about some of my answers and thinking of things I should have said instead. But I guess that's normal.
When is your interview? Good luck to you!!

My interview is on thursday @ 8am. Was the "what qualities" question the one that stumped you? I can see how that one would be hard. I personally think that the question about the alcohal and the pain medication would be a harder question. Because I have always been the type of person to want to approach someone about problems but I think in that case you would have to go straight to the supervisor. At least thats what I say now...but wait till I am actually sitting in front of someone...lol

Did they give you an idea of when we should be hearing back.

Thanks
John

John-
That is not the question that stumped me. I can't even explain the question that stumped me. It was too strange.
They said they would let us know by the end of March or the beginning of April. That is kind of a long time to wait. Especially when it's all you can think about!!
Good luck. I'm sure you will do great!
By the way, I think I know you. Did you take stats with Palcic this past summer?

Just Relax

I'm about to finish a nursing program in ks, not JCCC, but anyways. Relax & be yourself. I was all worked up for my interview and it ended up being okay. I've been interviewing for jobs in the kc area and I made a list out ahead of time of the qualities that i feel like i can bring to a facility. if i were you i would do that for this, that way when they ask you, you may not be as frazzled. be confident in your answers. when they ask if you have any questions i always ask what they like about the program from others in the area, and what they would like to change about the program to benefit it. i do this with jobs now, so this lets them know that you are serious about being in the program and want to be involved. i wish you both a ton of luck. i'm about to be done, it's overwhelming and hard but if you put your mind to it you can do anything. good luck!
