Lpn Jobs/salaries In Iowa

Hello, I'm curious to know the types of LPN positions and respective salaries in Iowa. Also I'm interested in knowing if there is a state institution (something like an "Iowa State Hospital" that cares for mentally retarded/developmentally disabled adults, criminally insane, etc populations) and if so, where is that located and what are the salaries for LPNs there? Thanks for any input!

Hi,

In the Quad cities LPN's make approx. 15.00 to 17.00 in LTC. Agency pays $20.00/hr.

Can't speak for hospital wages.

Re: Lpn Jobs/salaries In Iowa

There are 4 State Hospitals ( psychiatric facilities ) in Iowa. One in each corner of the State. I can't attest to the wages of LPN's but they generally earn about $1.00 more an hour than do RTW's ( Resident Treatment Workers ) which are the equivalent of a CNA ( Certified Nursing Assistant ).
After working 26 yrs as an RTW my current wage is: roughly $19.60 an hour. I work in NW Iowa.

My class recently toured MHI in Independence. Several in our class live close & are interested in working there. We were told it is really hard to get on in these facilities mainly because they do pay better & it's a govt job. They don't have much turnover.
