Re: Any IA lpn to rn online through excelsior?

Wow! I've heard that College Network is really pushy. I have dealt with Rue mostly. I have found them to be very professional. I personally feel that they are the most honest also.

I was going to sign with Rue a couple of months ago before their prices went up, but again, don't like the idea of a contract. I've decided to wait for Kaplan, see what they have to offer. I have heard that Kaplan is going to be VERY expensive! But I do believe that you can get fin aid or student loans to help pay for their program. If that fails, maybe I'll look back into Rue.

Hey, what county do you live in? I'm in Cedar County. Rue did send me a phone number of a past graduate with them/Excelsior. The person was way out in Council Bluffs!

Thanks for all the info! Very interesting!!

Re: Any IA lpn to rn online through excelsior?

Hi, I currenly live in Oregon but call Iowa home(kids still live there). I am doing the RUE plan LPN to RN. The text thru Rue (the $125/month payment) is not the real expense but rather the 220 (or more depending on test you need to take) from Excelsior. Plus all the other ADD ON stuff($900 to enroll in Excelsior for 1 year, $500 everyear after that that till you graduate etc. The people from RUE gave me a very good detailed accounting for costs I used that same info when I called the others-and they seemed upset that I was asking for amounts/reasons that RUE had given me. For $75 registration fee a "real" college admissions person reviews your transcripts so you know what you need to take(Excelsior). Class requirements are changing so check into things carefully!!!!!

Re: Any IA lpn to rn online through excelsior?

Have any of you gotten any more information from Kaplan university? They started their online RN program in Florida and when I talked to them today they are planning on expanding the program to other states. Since there are two Kaplan University's in Iowa I am hoping we are one of those states. Wondering if anyone has anymore info???

You are correct...never place your personal email on a board post.

However, you may send a PM or private message to that member with your email enclosed. That way, you can share that kind of sensitive info off the eyes of the board (and the world).

An Excelsior person did that when I applied and I didn't need to take some things that I KNOW Rue or TCN would have said I needed.

My Excelsior ASN is going to cost a total of $6000, including graduation fees.

I have finished all of my classes. My GPA is 3.8. I got NO additional study materials. The downloadable guides and texts are plenty.

Kaplan University now starts its adn program online. However, Florida is the only place doing it now. They are [planning to expand the program to other states. They take 20 students out of one thousand.
